Well i say problem more a niggle that had now changed to doing my heed in.
Bike... 86 GPz750A2
The idiot lights since i bought this bike two years ago have been doing odd things. If using the indicators the indicator idiot light would flash bright then dim with the blue high beam. It would not go out unless i turn the indicators off. I never found the problem but now They work as they should but if i have the lights on and use left indicator the right idiot light flashes then the other way round when turning left.
I cant find any loom problems but there must be as i have cleaned every block connector on the bike and stuck grease in them. The problem is not in the switchgear as i changed them for ZX6 ones and the problem was there before and after
Anyone give pointers to what shares a wire with the idiot lights? I have looked at the bike and wire diagram that many times i think i need a 2nd pair of eyes.

sounds very much like corroded terminals in the connectors .Another thing to check is the bulbs and holders, especially the bulb bases as the bases can rust a bit and the lead solder pins oxidise.
Cheaper wiring systems do shit like send all the power through the ignition switch and the base contacts can corrode.A lot of electrical gremlins can be caused by knackerd ignition switches causing intermittent faults.
another problem is 'frame is an earth' mentality.basically people attache an 'earth 'wire to a fork leg, fork yoke, headlamp shell etc and assume that theres a good earth between the forks and frame, despite to fact that greased head bearings, fork oil, rubber fork seals are not known to be a very good electricl conducter. This sort of crap wiring generally works but can cause internal corrosion problems. In a short space of time your pride and joy could be looking like a door skin on an 80' range rover, bubbling with corrosion and moisture under the bubbles and blisters.
dont assume any green or green plus other colour wire is an earth. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. Cheers Unitynotsocrippledatmo. Few things to look out for there. Must admit i have never had the bulbs out as i think i was being a twat and presuming with the unit being a good seal they will be fine. Ill whip it off and give the bulbs and holders a good clean. The ignition has been changed for an after market thing at some point. Not saying its good as it does look worn. I have took them apart before so ill have a look in there also. I remember my old GS one being green on the copper connections inside. Funny that its just the idiot lights though so ill do that and test first.
