apparently somebody is sending out e-mails claiming to be from the dvla asking for driving licence details. this is the wording of the e-mail as reported in the classic bike guide magazine, (sept issue, p10).
"from: dvla
subjet: update your licence details
we are currantly upgrading our data base and all drivers are required to update and verify their driver licence details. to complete you licence verification with us, you are required to fill out the form in the link below
fake link
drivers who refuse to upgrade his or her details within two weeks of this e-mail will lose his or her drivers licence and will have to take a fresh driving test.
we apologise for any inconvience this might have caused you.
thank you for your co-operation. (c)driver and vehicle licencing agency swansea sa6 7jl"
the classic bike guide reports that the dvla have not sent any such e-mail and advise anyone reieving such an e-mail not to open it and do not click the link.

The lack of correct spelling is a bit of a give-away, along with the fact that the dvla don't ask for email addresses xD

of course they do, but they're fat stumpy fingers are to large to press a single key so everytime they update anything it goes in wrong and causes errors and glitches screwing everyone over.

(either that or they have a system so complicated bill gates couldnt run it)

I do wish you'd stop with the derogatory comments about the DVLA.

Of course they have computers. Their computer equipment and expertise is very advanced, such as this piece of hi tech, high speed processing equipment used by the best and brightest at Swansea to ensure your licence is swiftly and efficiently dealt with

I just presumed that to fall for one of these 'your paypal account is blocked' 'your bank has been accessed by a third party' 'you are due a tax refund' type emails you had to be a bit of a fuckwit anyway.

Warning people on a forum full of probably internet savvy people won't save those who are of the type to give full details to an obviously dodgy email.

For full info, please forward your bank details for age verification to honest_age_check@gmail.com

It stuns me how thick scammers tend to me. I mean, spelling mistakes? Really? When you're trying to impersonate a government agency?

With that said, my DSA email confirming my test booking spelt "agency" as "agceny".

To be fair the grasp of English in the spoof e mail is on a par with some of the none automated letters the DVLA have sent me over the years.

... also, we have you down as deceased and to be honest, it would be easier on us to just kill you than to admit that we made a mistake.

But yes, fall for that and you pretty much deserve the subsequent reaming.

There's 2 obvious fails.

Firstly because not everyone who gets a licence actually does a test and secondly because it hasn't caused inconvenience yet, should be worded 'any inconvenience this may cause'.

Quite the opposite. In fact even a monkey could run it, but DVLA dont employ individuals with as good a talent and mental capacity a mature monkey possesses.[/quote]

Why do you have to come a long and be ageist for, younger monkeys also have a reasonable mental capacity to do the job.
It's people like you that give young monkeys a bad name.

I'm also not just saying this because they hole my finger and look up at with me with those big sad eyes Smile

Someone had obtain my brothers dvla drivers number & then stated that he was driving their car when got caught in a speed trap! My brother only found out when the DVLA sent a letter to his house saying send your licence back as we have to add 3 points to it. It was the first he knew of it, Now he has found out there is another court case in his name for not paying another fine for speeding. Now he,s has got the solicitors involved to clear his name. Ps:- he had to send his licence in for them to give him his "points" .he can prove he was,t at the 1st speed trap as he was in work & now fighting to clear his name.
