On behalf of the GF's family. Left hand drive hub. BMX.

D received a left hand drive hub thing for his BMX for his birthday. He's big on his BMX stuff.

While I don't know exactly the situation exactly, (they're not here at the moment) basically it has too much free play before it engages. D does quite and lot of tricks and stuff, the other day when testing it came off and hurt himself.

Sent the hub thing back to the supplier to be refunded, they won't refund it because it's not faulty.

This part was not cheap, D wants to get it refunded and buy a different one.

Are there any regulations to back up a refund? Trying to find the exact hub on their site (won't name them for now) and see if the free play is stated there, if not, can they claim is was sold under misinformation?

Bought less than a month ago, if it helps.

Do they supply dimensions, or a fitment guide for what it does and does not fit?

I imagine he would be more likely if he was to get the refund before it was used? Now, they're going to be on the defensive straight away, taking it in for a refund due to the free play / "fault" will mean accepting it was cause of a personal injury, opening themselves up for a claim

As I understand it there is no mention of the amount of free play on the site.

I agree, but problem is, he wouldn't know the free play before testing it.

With most items you can still refund it if it's been used as long as it's in a perfect condition.

I don't know if they've mentioned the accident to the suppliers yet, and I'm pretty sure the supplier is online only, so communication is a pain.

If its freeplay in the hub, then thats down to the number of ratchet engagement bits (hence the clickiness whilst riding along). and is a design feature of the hub.

If he's literally bought a hub, and its now on a bike that means he's had it laced to a wheel, without checking the freeplay before (thats pretty easy to do jsut by spinning it, which you'd blatantly do cos its noisy.

He's then had it in a wheel for a month and now decides he's going to take the wheel apart for a refund?

Since sarcasm doesn't come across well on the internet, not a chance of getting a refund out of that. Not least because by the time its been unlaced I'd be very very surprised if its perfect.[/b]
