Bloody hell!

I remember reading (six months ago maybe?) that Aprilia were tinkering with the idea of doing an RSV450 (two stroke, I think). That would be mental Cool

I've seen similar things done to an RGV, the RS will be slightly lighter and have a better chassis.
I should imagine it to go like a GP bike with a numberplate and sound like one too Very Happy

Bet the powerband on that thing'll pull your arms out of their sockets! Razz

That's absolutely nuts. If i had $11 000 i would be on the phone to buy it right now! Even though legally i can't ride it Embarassed . I could only imagine a similiar thing done too a RGV.

No, it's a v-twin, the bike is out now and being used for racing, it's a supermoto though!! It was built as a supermoto/MX and there were rumours that the engine would be fitted into an RS250 frame etc and put into production.

Don't hold your hopes up though!

The Aprilia supermoto is kicking arse in the championships from what I remember, but I think it's a bit unfair as a supermoto is meant to be single cylinder etc so putting the vtwin SM in the open class is just a piss take.

The RSV450 isn't likely to happen in my opinion, and if it does then I can see it being very expensive, 400 performance with the weight nearing a new 600, so little point IMO.

Theres a nicer one than that though on Mark Dents Gamma site. Its the black RS250 with the chrome look stickers. This one makes a nice 128.5bhp at the back wheel! I think the RS250 is without a doubt the best home for a Gamma 500 engine, though i like the style of the old Gamma, as its a classic 80's race replica, and if you update the suspension, wheels/tyres and brakes, its not too bad at all. The biggest problem with the RGV/RS conversions is that everything must be squeezed into a smaller space, and im sure that it means that there is some limitations with optimum exhaust and intake dimensions as a result.

Don't thinmk that's the first time it's been posted.

Note that it is listed as a 150kg weights, I presume that's dry as the wet weight of the rs250 is 168kg I think. At 150kg it's only about 10kg lighter than modern 600s, with maybe very slightly more power, but then you can easily tune up a 600 to get more power than that.

Much as I do like the idea, I suspect that in these modern times the excitement will come more from the sound than the performance Smile.
