Good evening everyone.

Right this Sunday I'm planning on going to Silverstone. They have the Bristish F3/Gt Championships going on. https://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/British-F3-GT-Championships11/

Firstly, has anyone been to this event? What's it like it terms of how busy it gets etc?

I'm not actually going for the races. I love motor racing, so will love it, but only really follow the F1, so I'm going to get a feel for the place as a photographic venue.

So has anyone experience of photographing there at all? I believe the paddock will be open, and I'll be able to go pretty much where I want with a standard admission ticket. I've read up a lot of places that people recommend, but want to hear some views on here.

I've only got a measly 70-300mm lens myself, but I've somehow managed to borrow the gorgeous Nikon 500mm f4. And as I'll be on my D90, length won't be an issue at all I don't think!

So anyone got any tips. Places to go, where to avoid, where is good for such a mammoth lens…

Oh and if anyone has any tips on silverstone in general that would be great. I've never actually been, so ideas of when to get there, how busy it can be, places to eat etc etc are all very appreciated!
