There is no war on road users but when was the last time you saw plod walking the streets, checking hi crime areas for burglaries and muggings? Can't remember

Then how often have you seen a copper with a speed camera or at a vehicle meet checking for faults? Every day

It's pissing me off that it seems the government is using plod to raise revenue to get them out the shit and we have to fund it.

They do bog all about the real bad drivers, no looking, no indicators, lane hogging, u-turns in busy traffic etc but do 34mph in a 30 and you can be sure to get fucked over.

My mission is to gtfo of here before i get (much) too old

Feel your pain, also have the same thoughts as yourself.

I would love to be an unmarked copper in plain clothes in my Clio... I see so many wankers on the roads Laughing

Where can you go? In Australia traffic cops and regulations are even worse, red light cameras on almost every junction and speed cams on the front of every police car, and the police themselves will draw their guns on you for pissing in a bush IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING DESERT GOD DAMMIT GUYS.

The USA is even worse, cops are aggressive as hell.

Canada...may be alright.

But obviously I agree, it feels as though I'm an enemy of the state, and not in a cool, leather jacket, aviators and a cigar way.

Move here. It is lawless Mr. Green

You will rarely see a cop and when you see them, except for traffic police with cameras. and many just want a bribe.

You dont get caught often for speeding, except at blatant speed traps where you enter a town or on national roads.

Or me!
According to the rules (but when was the last time a traffic officer actually read those?) you can only be given a fine/NIP/whatever by, or stop for, an officer in uniform.

Easy money.

Police are in between a rock and a hard place...

Though I completely agree speed traps and mobile cameras are utter scum.

'Speeding' in general is such a BS offence. Rolling Eyes

In the danger of sounding like hetz... just because some nonce decided a speed limit, why do I have to comply when conditions allow?

I've got no real issue with speeding on dual carriageways/motorways, even A roads. People who are bell ends when driving are open game though, on mobiles, cutting other road users up, not indicating and so on. As a rule I do try and stick to the NSL for the most part but do stray the wrong side of it more often than I'd like. I was going home yesterday after work on a dual carriageway, I was doing just shy of 80 & had a Q7 'resting' on my rear fairing. I moved into the left as I was overtaking a car, the Q7 was hammering along (there was plenty of room for me to move out, he was speeding up). I move back into the left, Q7 goes past (still accelerating) then tailgates a guy in a Subaru who must have been doing close to a ton. Again, no real issue with the speeds but the Subaru was way over the NSL so no need for the Q7 to tailgate. Rolling Eyes

Absolute offences are easy, efficient collars, and cars often drive around with electronic "Contains criminals!" signs emblazoned on them. It's a natural consequence of management consultant driven, target led policing with little direct accountability.

However, bear in mind that if every traffic copper was shifted to beat work tomorrow, most of us still wouldn't see them, and neither should we. Quoth Boaby Peel "The test of police efficiency is the absence of crime and disorder, not the visible evidence of police action in dealing with it."

I wouldn't mind being targeted by coppers if they weren't such bloody hypocrites about it. Some of the worst, most impatient, erratic or selfish driving I've witnessed has been by coppers. It's really too long to list. Sad

Speak for your own locality.

Traffic policing is nothing here, the main focus is anti social behaviour and drugs. Most if not all my colleagues don't like volunteering for traffic ops as they prefer tackling 'real' crime as most motorists put it.
