Have you ridden the full length of the A470 in Wales? It's a good-un.

The only thing that lets is down is that Cardiff is on one end of it.

You should try abroad, did two tours on the continent this summer,
mainly to get away from the crap English weather, Normandy is great and only a a few hours from Calais (you can get a return ticket for about £50).

However if its got to be UK, have you been through North Devon and down the Alantic Highway (A39) to Cornwall.

Earlier this summer I did Cheddar Gorge, across to Exmoor (purlock hill is fun), then down the A39 into Cornwall and back through South Devon, (stopped around Torbay for a few days), then the A303 back towards London.

Lovely part of the country especially if you get the weather Smile

Oh dear! I am going to be in soooooo much trouble Smile .

Now all those horrid school-kids are going back to school, I`m really thinking about either the south-west or IOM Thinking .
I just have to sum up the courage to face the missus Shocked to tell her what I`m planning to do.
In the words of Polar Bear, I think it might be time for "Anti-Bobbit pants" and sleeping with one eye open Shocked .

If I go south West I can do Lands end and Lizard point Thumbs Up
That will mean I will have done all four points on the mainland and both LE and JOG.

Not particulary epic I know but it would be an achievement for me Smile Thumbs Up .

A470 tis good. Come off at Merthyr and take The Heads of the Valleys road (A465) to Abergavenny and then A40 it back to Brecon or head over the B4560 (amazing route, scenery is outstanding) to Talybont on Usk and head up the A40 back in to Brecon. The latter is the way I'd do it.

This, x100.

You could base yourself in Brecon for long weekend or maybe even a week and have so much epic roadage within fifty miles.

I'd also recommend Saturday night in Harley's if you ever stay there Laughing Brecon is a funny little place, full of farmers and everyone shags each other but it makes for a surprisingly good night out with two epic curry houses too. And lots of decent pubs.
