It's been my favorite car to look at for a while now and one woke me up a few nights back. Seems like from factory they have a pretty decent engine, was very loud with the 'about to stall muscle car' noise (expert description). Looked like it could pull quite hard too.

The truck in Jeepers Creepers has that similar futuristic 50s feel too, another one I'd love to own. (in the film the truck has some kind of supercharger whine to it, awesome)

So, anyone driven one? How bad are they? Laughing

Lovely car, although I would prefer an old tatty/original one with maybe an engine overhaul. I'd be scared to drive that blue one in case it got dirty. Laughing

Not really suited to our roads at all though so must be great to have those wide open, long American roads, Thelma and Louise style!

I think only a certain type of person can really get away with driving a truck like that in the UK and they normally look like Elvis when he got fat.
Quite cool, a bit like custom coppers they are good to look at but you couldn't really ride about on one without looking like a redneck.

I don't think anyone could get away with driving one in the UK tbh. Razz Maybe if it was actually used as a pickup, but general driving about would look as normal as seeing a bright yellow hummer down a little side road. Reminds of that Top Gear ep with the Ford pickup truck, was just weird..

Anyone know the performance of one of these as standard? The Americans seeme to chuck the biggest engine they can find into their cars. None of this 1.8 crap, lets just use a 5.0 engine. Laughing

Will probably have had a sidevalve straight 6 or v8 from the factory (with a 3 speed manual box), and be rather gutless by modern standards. Lots of them have had more modern engines put in them.

I'm not really sure what the typical driver of one of those would look like but they are very cool! where the hell are you going to park it? Laughing Hopefully you don't live on a terrace street with on-road parking!

Old Thread Alert!
