ZXR 750

Right, as I've been told my bikes likely to be a write off I'm looking at bikes to get when I get my money, I like the ZXR's so I'm just curious If anyone has any experience with a ZXR 750 L?
Speed?
handling?
Comfort?
Etc.....

Also I dislike the twin headlight, does anyone know If it would be possiable to fit a ZXR400 headlight?

Short answer, you'd be better off looking at a ZX6R, Kris has a ZXR750 and it spent most of it's time off the road broke.

You should be able to pick up an early ZX6R for the same price and it'll be a better bike.

You could fit a ZXR400 headlight but not without changing the fairing as well and it'd be daft amounts of hassle and work to get a ZXR400 fairing to fit.

I agree with Ste on this one, and I was going to suggest a ZX6-R myself too.

The ZX6 is a better bike and more reliable and probably alot cheaper to insure and run than the ZXR750. Plus the ZX6 will be newer too and the earlier ones come with a single headlight .

I've seen 92 zxr's for only £1500, I havn't seen a ZX6R for that.
Could you not just modify the standard fairing?

When I go on bike trader, I search for zxr 600 and they are all priced way high, like £3000.

ZXR750L is not a bad bike. the one Kris had was the older H model I think (along with a mechanic who seemed happy to spend his money and not get the bike going). The J model was sunstantially different but limited to 100hp, while the L was similar to the J but without the hp limit.

Personally go and look at both and see which you prefer. But fitting a single headlight would not be easy.

Thanks for that, I will have to look Into this in alot more detail, I thought It would be easy to change the headlight but obviously i was wrong.

ZX7R's can be had reasonably cheaply afaik (like £3k or so).

However the ZXR750 and ZX7R are very heavy and cumbersome. The ZXR's are reputed to have over hard rear shocks.

I would tend to agree with Ste, a ZX6R would be a better bet.

And when searching it isn't a ZXR600, its a ZX6 or ZX6R.

I had a ZXR750 J1. It was heavy (195kg) but not too bad when it was moving, not the most flickable bike but I've ridden worse. I was actually expecting it to be quite dated when I got it, but it rode okay. Beware that the ZX7R that replaced it was actually even heavier...

As MarJay said, they had a reputation for hard shocks and it was certainly the case with mine. Nothing too bad, but on a really bumpy road at speed it could start you bouncing a bit. I threw my girlfriend into the air a couple of times on the back...

If you can stretch to it, I'd go for a ZX6R. I got my 636 when I still had my ZXR750 and some people asked me why I'd gone to a smaller capacity - well, for a start it's actually quicker!
