When I went to get the second estimate for the damage to the nsr today, I was talking to the mechanic about my bike and he asked me if it was restricted, I said yes and told him all the problems I've been having with de-restricting it, couldn't find the exhaust or intake restrictors etc.

He then told me that it was a french import by looking at the frame number and started revving the bike up really high, I was like what you doing Confused , then he told me to come over and look at the powervalve so I did and he showed me that the powervalve opens at low revs but as soon as the revs get higher, the powervalve wants to close again so moves the other way.

He said that the restriction has nothing to do with the cdi but to do with the wiring loom, something like some wires being cross wired which just messes up the timing or something like that, said its a 20 minute job. So I will soon hopefully have it de-restricted. It was kinda cool for him to go out of his way to explain it to me!!

Anyway I just thought I would share the information and I'm sorry if this has already been covered but AFAIK there hasn't been a clear explanation of how to overcome this. Hope this works and will let you know if it does when I go to get it done in a couple of weeks or so.

Alains or someone who knows him, has made a little gizmo to bypass the restriction in the power valve actuator. He will send you one over from France for £15 iirc. Oh and post details on here about what wires need to be messed with etc, as loads of people are a bit stumped by this restriction Smile

Oh rite, yeh I remember reading something like that but I wasn't too sure and yeh If i get it done I will post up how he done it and if it isn't too complex what wires etc, however he does have a tendency to drown me in technical talk Laughing

I haven't really looked into it much, so have no idea what import models have what restriction. They made a good job of it though, as it is a right pain in the arse to put right Rolling Eyes

well , guys i will tell you everything . therectrictions are mechanical and electronical . the mechanical are simple to get right (intake and exhaust) . electronical are more complicated . the cdi 30410KBS621 (french & some others countries) has the advance setting lock just at the border of the red zone . the 30410KBS901 (uk & italy) has no restriction . now the RC valves control unit (i do not remember the french ref) has the full opening of the valves at 4.4 volts instead of 5.5 on uk & italy . this is why a mate called DAVNAV realised an electronic added box to connect in // with the servo & control unit . this correct the voltage , providing a fully open RC valves , starting at 7500 rpm and adjustable as you like it . if somebody wants a full doc on it mail me at [email protected] . the circuit need a bit of wiring and it is ready to use . in addition it has been tested on several NSR years from 1991 to 2003 . it require also , due to the high revs provided a bit of settings on oil injection and up-jetting (peanuts in price)
