Hi,

I am in need of a new battery. I am also aware that motorbike batteries and UK winters are not the best of chums.

During the winter months I will not be riding as often as I have been and my bike is stored outside in the elements. Whats the best way to always have a reliable battery.

1) Use any old battery and take it off keeping it inside until needed.

2) Buy a top grade sealed gel battery and leave it to look after its self. (please recommend make)

3) Combination of quality battery and keep it inside.

Cheers, Nick

depends how little you will be using it. I maybe used my bike once every two weeks over winter and had no issues. This was a quality Yuasa battery.
If you know that you wont be using it for a few weeks I would take the battery out, depending on the bike it is a two minute job.

Buy a standard battery and a battery tender and leave it connected when not riding.

Or buy a glass mat absorbtion battery, fit and forget. (this is the expensive option).

Odyssey are the very best make, there are others which are a lot cheaper (but not cheap).
