An utter failure...

To say I'm fucked off with myself would be an understatement. It's abundantly clear that I have fuck all aptitude when it comes to anything even remotely mechanical.

Yesterday I tried to fix my foot pedal to get it in the right place, all I managed to do was rip a load of skin off my thumb.

Today I thought I'd just do something simple and replace the scuffed bar end weight on the right hand side. Now I've managed to fuck that up too.

The screw wont go in or come out, I can see the inner part of the grip simply rotate when I try and undo or do up the screw. Now I have an end weight that's neither on or off properly.

Can anyone offer any tips, other than taking a big hammer to the entire bike.

Nice to see I'm not the only one!

I currently am riding my CBF125 as I removed the bCB400's rear wheel to clean it up and spray it.

Only now it won't go back in

For your bar end, if it's not properly in, can you rag it out with a set of mole grips or similar (assuming Sids suggestion is a no-go)?

If not, if you can get it on an angle, it will be a tighter fit, so might grip enough for you to loosen it off and get it out.

Bar ends are normally threadlocked. Without an impact driver you typically end up turning the head to mush.

But by practising, having a go and getting involved you're a step nearer than you were. Nobody is born with this stuff, you learn it as you go along. If you have any friends who are more experienced try to learn from them.

Practice makes perfect - it's very satisfying sorting your own bike out.

The best advice I can offer is use your eyes and brain before you put tools near anything.

Nowt wrong with trying, keep at it & you'll get it right......That'll give the confidence a nice boost, then you'll gradually do more. Everyone starts somewhere, don't give up. Fixing something that's broken is a nice feeling.

Grab a pair of the oberion bar ends off ebay. Have em on both my bikes. One pair cost £25, the other £5

When you do the bolt up, the bar end presses into the cone & pushes it outwards. No rubber bullshit to fuck up inside the bar itself. Remove the old ones with Mr grinder.
