Now, parking is trending towards an industry where private contractors get paid based on the number of tickets they issue, which is entirely incidental to solving actual traffic problems. In fact, deterring bad parking is the last thing that they want.

No bad parking? No problem, just invent some, hit your quota, and let PATAS et all sort it out later.

Don't take my word for it, ask Hakim Berkani, who showed some proper British spunk in standing up to the thieving scum that employed him.

I shoved one into a bush and then gave him a right-hander when he started screaming into his radio for "urgent assistance". All after him gobbing me off (I was seriously provoked). I got one year's probation and had to pay £100 compo, at £2.50 a week. Worth every frikkin' penny.
