Hi all passed my DAS today, which means most of my gear needs up grading as ill be riding regularly and tbh my old gear needs chucking.

Going for winter gear (Textile) as it makes sense due to British weather Sad

So could you please recommend good kit you have had experience with, places to look and even brands etc

Price range

£40-60 Gloves
£70-150 Jacket
£50-100 Pants
£70-100 Boots

Anything cheaper would be appreciated, am just at a loss to whats good kit these days.

Had a look on ebay which am happy buying from its just a problem as to what is decent and worth having a bid on.

Thanks Smile

Richa stuff is decent and good value, I have a leathers and textiles and cant fault them.
Lots in your price range too have a look here https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_cat/570 to get idea then shop around

I can also recomend the RST Tractech WP gloves but be wary as RST quality can vary

Firstly I don't bother with branded stuff. Its pointless spending all that money on names (IMO). Buy stuff that you like, that fits you well and is within the price-range you can afford.

Go to a bike clothing store and try stuff on. See if you are a standard fit...if yes, fab, check your sizing and find stuff online or at sales or bike shows...it should save you some cash. If you are not, then it's a case of go to a shop try stuff on, then buy it there and then.

My leather jeans I bought from a market oodles of years ago, I've kept them good with Dubbin (leather conditioner). I have my mates old Bering paddock jacket with all the usual padding, so it was effectively a freebie. I have two pairs of gloves, one summer pair that probably cost me around £30 (from Bykebitz, Yateley - many many many years ago) and the latest pair of Kevlar knuckle dusters which I got from a stall at Brighton Burn-Up last weekend for £20.

My lid is a Suomy, I got that at a shop in Cowplain near Pompey a few years ago for £40 (sale price). Thumbs Up

I always haggle for kit too. Cool

Im with the Clangy one on this score too. My gear is all no brand and its served me well for years. I've a textile jacket which zips to a pair of bottoms both unknown brands and they are both over 2 years old. Each part cost me around £50 on Ebay.

My leather bottoms I bought from a market stall in the Burn up 2 years ago, jacket was £90 from Ebay. I have a pair of non branded winter gloves that cost me around £20 on Ebay. Summer gloves are HG but got with the promotion they done a few months back. Boots are "black" make from Ghostbikes and they cost me £70.

Helmet was £90 from the same shop Clanger bought hers from.

You definately need to try kit on mate,as ive noticed a massive difference in sizes.

Depending on were you are in the country, there's a shop in Bolton what used to be george whites that has lots of gear in at cheap prices.Im sure they have a branch in Swindon.

Just checked on google and the website is:

https://www.megamotorcyclestore.co.uk/

They seem to have better offers in store though.

Try kit on and go for what fits best and feels comfortable.

I went for RST gear which is your kinda budget, good quality stuff (used widely in superbikes, if it's good enough for them...) but without a massive premium of brands like Alpinestars etc.

Personally went for a set of textiles and a set of leathers. The textile jacket I went for was the Pro Series Paragon III which has high-vis textile incorporated into the design, which I think looks a lot less ghey than a hi-vis jacket whilst still increasing your visibility to others. Cos it was designed into the jacket, it looks right. Comes with fitted Level 1 back protector too, unlike a lot of (more expensive) jackets.

I've also tested them in torrential rain covering 200 miles over the course of a full day, and the only thing that got wet were my feet because I put the wrong boots on haha
