hi all

I have a SV650 2000.

I have been running it for about 2 months and she has been sweet as a nut but tonight on the way home i was cruising at 40mph in 6th and i had a backfire this was like a shotgun going off.

Everything is standard it idles good and pulls smooth starts good half choke for 1 min in the morning.

The only thing i have done is put 33bhp restrictors in the carbs.

is it the cold because i have read a lot of SVs back fire

Thanks,

John

V twins and singles do backfire more easily than fours.
Has it only done it once?

40MPH in 6th doesn't sound too good.

Thanks Vincent

It’s just me being a cheep arse putting it in higher gears.

On the way in to work this morning and all was good no back fire i think it was like you said "need more throttle which means more fuel and some could get to the exhaust without being burnt off and ignite causing the backfire."

but I was having some fun this morning so there was plenty of high revs. Twisted Evil

ps I hate 33bhp restrictors just as it gets going proper it shit outs. Evil or Very Mad

thanks

John

Yeah it dose make sense what you are saying and I have debated about the restrictors falling out but it is just my look to have a crash and they check it or I get pulled by a jobs worth.

It’s just not worth my license and it makes my job just bearable because I get to use my bike twice a day to get there and home.

Thanks for all the replies

Thanks
John
