We would see the Earth as it was 230 million years ago.

It's the light travelling to us we see, if we had a telescope looking back, I imagine we would only see light. If we had something that would let us see planets from long distances in detail, I imagine we'd see it as it is.

So long as we teliported instantly, then we would see earth 230 million years ago. The light would be coming mostly from the sun, bouncing off earth and then to you and that would take 230 million years.

Though he'd probably see them in black and white as colour doesn't hold up too well over those sorts of distances.

In theory, he'd see Dinosaurs. In reality at 230 milllion light years I'd guess making out Earth itself would be impressive, let alone stuff on the surface.

As the earth is only 6000 years old I doubt he'd see much of anything.

It shouldn't be long before we can abstract the whole from a single photon, if quantum-mechanics gives an accurate analysis of light. Every single photon should share the same information as every other photon in the universe. We just need the right kind of telescope/technology.

Or summfink. Laughing

You should be more concerned that people didn't realise you were joking. Instead they assumed you were being you. However, if bazza, or for that matter any number of other BCF'ers had said it then people would have instantly known it was a joke.

The telescope would see the light that left Earth 230 million years ago, if we had the ability to instantaneously teleport then we would probably also have shit-hot telescopes Thumbs Up

That's how the dinosaurs went extinct. The planet got whacked by a bloody great telescope.

And of course, more than 60~70 years ago everything was black and white. just look at the old photos
