Been looking around for some reliable method of having all my details to hand should I get knocked off.

Have decided on two methods but whilst looking came across a dog tag which conatins a USB stick (UTAG).

Was wondering how effective these might be given NHS staff face gross misconduct action for putting an unauthorised data storage device on to the employers network and potentially introducing a virus? Question

I went for the phone option and card in the helmet.
Only concern I had with phone alone was if it gets screwed in the off.

I thought the USB idea was great until I thought it through a bit more

I use the security on my phone so that would be no good. I do carry my licence and other ID but also these which are meant for builders helmets but just as good for bikers.

If your phone is android you can use a screen lock such as Widget Locker which still locks the phone but allows a widget (such as an ICE app) on the lock screen which can be accessed without unlocking the phone

Ambulances don't carry laptops, therefore these are useless Smile

USB is no good as they will not plug it into a computer for fear of virus infection or malware that will violate the Data Protection Act.
On the track we must wear tags. Mine have my name and address on one and 2 contact phone numbers on the other.
A phone is not liable to survive a decent off, stick to letter stamped metal tags.

This was my point, working in the NHS I have seen issues with staff plugging in USB hence wondering how these products fare.
Does seem UTAG is sailing close to the wind by selling a "life saver" which whilst may the give the person comfort knowing they are wearing it actually does them no good at all becuase no one will be able to read what is on it. Seems a tad unethical, but then money is money I suppose

Dog tags on your jacket zip. Although the ICE helmet stickers look pretty good too.

I have ICE stored in my phone and the Crash card inside my helmet.

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/280291/images/crash-card.jpg

you get a little green spot for the outside of the helmet to notify the paramedics you carry the card. I've had it for years, at first not many paramedic crews knew about the card but they have since gone nationwide so more and more people are aware of them.

I have a brass tag on my jacket zip.

Like the sort you'd stick on a dog's collar, has my name, DOB, brief medical details and emergency contact numbers. Bought online from a pet tag site for £6 ish.

was going to say the same. usb would be useless and they cant/wont plug it in.

putting blood group is also pointless as they have to double check anyway.

my race tags only have my name and dob on, thats all thats needed. if you want to put allergies and a contact phone number then thats fine too but id stick with stamped tags too.

can get them very cheap off ebay

What about the old SOS Talisman, i.e. this - clicky link.

My parents bought me one as a youngster with a St. Christopher design when I did a lot of rock climbing. Still useful IMHO.

Thumbs Up
