Its at 2:30, the only things I'm worried about are the hazard awarness as its just a crap video game and braking distances, but I have a cunning plan to use a series of dots in green pen on the back of each finger for stopping distances at 10MPH intervals Smile

Hazard awareness is basically testing whether you can use the software, rather than testing your hazard awareness. I was disqualified from two of my clips for clicking too much and still passed easily. The hazards are actually pretty obvious when they happen so avoid overclicking just because you've spotted a pedestrian or a dog or something. You just have to hope that when you click during the hazard it matches up with their scoring window. You can pretty safely click 2 or 3 times during the hazard (to ensure you register a score of some sort) as long as you haven't randomly clicked too many times in the rest of the clip.

what's the green dot plan?

I failed a mock hazard awareness test for saying there were hazards when they say there weren't. This gets to me because if I say something is a hazard and I'm the one riding then by definition it's a dam hazard, simple as that. Also there were a few parts where they said I hadn't spotted the hazard soon enough but it wasn't a hazard straight away. That thing really bugs me

I memorised stopping distances in about 10 minutes - The thinking distance is done for you - divide the speed by 10 (i.e. - drop the '0') and multiply by 3 - that gives you thinking distance (in metres) for all of them. You only need to memorise 6 numbers (the actual stopping distances) - the rest (thinking & overall) you can calculate from knowing the above.

Guys,

The easiest way of remembering the distances are as follows:

20 mph x 2 = 40ft
30 mph x 2.5 = 75ft
40 mph x 3 = 120ft
50 mph x 3.5 = 175ft
60 mph x 4 = 240ft
70 mph x 4.5 = 315ft

Start at 20 mph & then times it by 2, the speeds then go up in intervals of 10 mph but the multiplication goes up by .5

I have managed to bluff my way through a car test & a lorry test using that rule and most recently (Sat just gone) my bike test.

Apologies if my explanation doesn't come across as 'plain english' but I know what I meant.. Very Happy Very Happy

Thinking distances, as said - just drop the 0 from the speed and multiply by 3 - as so:

20mph = 2 x 3 = 6 metres
30mph = 3 x 3 = 9 metres
40mph = 4 x 3 = 12 metres
50mph = 5 x 3 = 15 metres
60mph = 6 x 3 = 18 metres
70mph = 7 x 3 = 21 metres

I aced the hazard perception but failed the other part by one question.

I'm not going to bother explaining my superb dot system because its pointless as there was somone monitering everyone sitting the exam and I had the dots on my left hand which would have been too obvious to look at. Should have put the dots on my right so could have looked at them while working the mouse.

It's still customary to say thanks to people who go out of their way giving advice though.
