Hi all, i've been fettling and doing some home maintenance with my bike this morning and discovered that by you get a nicer, throatier sound by removing the airbox cover. I then realised that on the rubber intake, the are 3 holes but the middle one is plugged - i used a scalpel to unplug the middle channel to allow more air throuh and replaced the airbox.

Upon further fettling, i removed the rubber completely as shown in my diagrams. Other than sound, what are the advantages of doing such things - i assume that fuelling may be messed up to to more air intake so i'll be needing your responses ASAP before i start chewing down plugs Confused I still want by bike to sound nice - i checked exhaust and there are no restrictors as such.

Cheers all

Cheers Cagiva geez, took about 10 mins to do on pro desktop-

Anyway, i've returned the rubber inlet back to where it should be, but completely shelled out the cavity so that it's completely hollow, allowing a greater volume of air through. Probably end up more rich - noticed this when i accidentally fumigated my garage, going out well light headed - oh well, reduced fuel cons and increased plug wear - i can probably sort those things out in due course.

I did something a bit similar to mine (in my MS Paint scrawl, see the 'inlet tunnel'); it made a nicer, louder sound, but I didn't notice any particular difference to the performance of the machine.

What I don't understand is why this 'tunnel' is in there in the first place, it's not even facing the right way to create 'ram air' Laughing, and with it in, only the last inch or so of the filter gets used, and the inlet apeture is about half as large. Why not just make the air box opening the right size to begin with? Confused
