speed fight3 fuel issue

Hello, when I get my fuel light on it always looks like there's a lot f fuel left so today I pumped out the remaining fuel when the light came on I had around 4 litersleft and I looked up the size of the fuel tank which is 8.1 liters, is this normal for a moped?

Sounds like you have a fuel sensor issue

But to be honest it's normal for Mopeds fuel lights to come on with a lot of fuel in the tank, on my SR50 when the fuel light comes on I know I have 20 miles of slow riding to fill up.

Check the owners manual for petrol light mileage to empty tank.

Thanks for the reply, and really? Even half a tank it just seems like I could do another 60 miles on what's left :S it goes from full - to one less bar then it will stay the same for a while hthen loose 3 bars so it only has two bars left then goes to warning and does this consistantly and I don't have the manual its secound hand but its only 3 years old

Hmm, only thing I can suggest you do is take it to the dealer?

Yeah that's what I was going to do but I didn't want to waste my money if its actually meant to do that, and yeah but nothing comes up as mine is a consistent problem

Try and take it to a decent dealer or somewhere it's been before

Dealer's should not charge for a quick look over the bike as chances are they will know what's wrong with your bike as soon as you question them about it.

The dealer will have had 100's of problems simlour to yours.

If it's running OK and not smoking like a BITCH it should be the matter of a simple fix like a sensor or part broken wire, if it was a broken wire from the sender to the Dash it would not show bar's at all, so taking that into account i think it will be the sensor in your tank, i know on most speed fights you can get to the Fuel tank sensor under the seat

Thanks a lot I toke it there and they quoted me £70 and I know where it is is, its under the fuel panel/steering column panel, how simple is it to replace? Would I be able to do it myself fairly easily?

£70 Does that include the part in that?

Is it actually the Sensor ?

Fairly simply to replace i know on my Aprilia Scooter it's screwed into the tank, take a picture and post it up and i will have a look

south of England and I can't take a picture of it directly because its blocked by some panels I can only see the wire but I disconnected it and nothing showed up on the fuel gauge and plugged it in and it started doing a blip so that's it and yes the part is 30 and labour is 40 per hour
