Scooter 12v battery displaying 1.7v

Hi there

I have just taken my 12v battery out of my moped that has been sitting around for a year not doing anything.

I measured the voltage using a mutimeter and got 1.7v - should be between 12 -14v as far as I know...
Does this mean I need to go and buy a new battery?
Or can I just charge it up?

It probably does need replacing... But try charging it first, you have nothing to loose.
