 |
|
Anyone ever totally ruined any of their gear in a completely dumb way, not involving falling off your bike?
Hopefully I'll win this one, I'd hate to think someone's done anything dumber than this:
When I was 17 or 18 and still lived at my parents house, I'd come home after an night out really drunk, and somehow made it to bed. In the early hours I woke, desperate for a piss, but didn't think I'd get to the bathroom so I pissed out the bedroom window.
Woke in the morning and vaguely recalled it, but I thought that couldn't have happened, the windows have a really intricate safety catch thing I could hardly open when sober, went to check anyway and put my hand on the windowsill, which was still wet and stinking of piss, as was the net curtain and, sadly, my helmet which I kept on the windowsill.
Luckily almost none has spilled onto the carpet as the helmet lining had soaked up almost all my urine.
So, has anyone else done dumb things? |

Bolted a pair of Nonfango paniers to my bike.
Put Scott Kevlar jacket in panier.
Went for a ride.
Tip: If you have Super-trap end cans..... take note that the exhaust gasses come out the EDGE not the end!
Opened box at the other end.... big hole where the hot exhaust had been venting straight on it..... lots of molten plastic that used to be an expensive jacket! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

sort of relevant...
My friend set up a phone charger under the seat of his GS 500, it worked fine for a couple of weeks...until one day when I was following him on a trip to Skegness, I saw £500 worth of smartphone fall from his bike and smash into little pieces!
he was gutted |

My brother put his leathers in the loft over winter. When he came back to them he found that squirrels had been in and chewed them up for nest material. He was less than pleased, they were virtually brand new. ____________________ CBT √ Passed, Theory √ Passed, Mod 1 √ Passed, Mod 2 √ Passed

Burnt a whole in my normal jeans can't get any more of them as well. Jeans that I use for riding when I cant be bothered to change into rst jeans, also when I was using trainers for a few days (class this as gear as I was using it on the bike) the sole completely rubbed away. ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

I spilt petrol all over a plastic bike cover without realising for a couple of days. I left it outside for the great British rain to clean it up for a lazy old me.
I hadn't used it since then. (3-4months?)
I went to put it on my bike yesterday and upon unfolding it, the plastic where the petrol had been was really stiff and just cracked. I carried on and got it on the bike. Anywhere that the petrol had been was screwed... the cover touched the mirror, the mirror went through the cover, etc.
Can't really use that cover again!
Anyone have a cover they wish to donate? ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |
