Today's grumble/gripe is (as the title suggests) about inconsiderate people.

I travel around a fair bit, and find my stress-levels are often increased by coming into contact with (grits teeth) the general public. Here's a few recent examples of thoughtless twattery:

Heinous crime #1
Location: flight to Oslo.
Being a big kid, I had my usual window seat by the wing. A young couple were sat in my row - he had the aisle seat, she was in the middle.
She sat at an angle in her seat so that she could talk to him, and was tossing her hair around in typical girl fashion.
The problem being that, due to her angle, every head-toss resulted in her hair whipping my face.
Being a typical non-complainy Englishman, I let it go a few times. But, after a while it became apparent that I was going to be hair-whipped for the entire 2 hour flight.
I tapped her on the shoulder, and politely explained the problem. To her credit, she was very apologetic, and the hair-whipping ceased.

But, a bit of basic courtesy on her part could've prevented it in the first place.

Heinous crime #2
Location: Oslo airport.

Disembarking from my flight, the passenger in front of me decided to stop right at the door of the plane to fiddle with his luggage, completely oblivious to everyone behind him who now couldn't exit the plane.
Had he just stood to the side, everyone could've passed him, but it obviously didn't occur to him that he was blocking everyone's path.

Heinous crime #3
Location: Oslo airport
Having finally got off the plane, I was on one of the two escalators down to arrivals.
A couple (one on each escalator) decided to stop for a chat right at the bottom of the fucking escalator!!
Unlike crime #2,nobody could now stop and wait politely for them to finish, as the escalator was carrying them downward.
Someone shouted something in Norwegian (I don't know enough to understand exactly what was said, but a rough guess would suggest it was something like 'get out of the fucking way you thoughtless pricks').
They woke up, looked around, realised how fucking thick they were being, and moved out of the way.

Heinous crime #4
Location: London Bridge tube station
On my way up the steps to exit towards Borough market, another thoughtless cunt decided he just had to stop at the top of the stairs to answer his phone.

He (and his suitcase) completely blocked the stairs, preventing us all from getting outside. Taking my cue from my Viking chum in Oslo, I shouted 'move out of the fucking way you twat'.

This seemed to wake him up, and he moved aside.

I know the saying goes that common sense isn't very common, but ffs I'm not asking much, just a bit of basic courtesy and consideration for others.

Is it really too much to ask?

Question

I shall add to this if I may.

Driving to work this morning after dropping the better half off.

normal sized residential street, i.e. 2 lanes, one car wide for each lane. bus coming in the opposite direction followed by a train of traffic. The taxi infront of me decided this would be the perfect place to slap his 'hazard' warning lights on and drop off a fare, who obviously fumbled for the money as it too him ages to get out of the cab.

This resulted in me leaning on the car horn until said cabbie moved along after sticking his arm out of the window and waving a one fingered apology at me! Cunt.

Guaranteed all of the people at fault were British, and not Norwegians who are on the whole polite to a fault, immensely intelligent and extremely considerate.

This is why I detest shopping of any description, because people are so inconsiderate.

Take supermarkets for example. There are a lot of etiquette issues in supermarkets, and I'm sorry to say that in my experience it is usually the ladies who cause the issues. It's like there is some sort of instruction manual for it...

1) Ensure you take up the whole of a section of products with yourself and your trolley, remaining there for up to five minutes while deciding whether you want Cravendale or Tesco's own milk. Do not let anyone else near under any circumstances.

2) Always make sure you stop your trolley next to someone else's when looking at items, so that nobody else can get down the aisle. If there are no other shoppers nearby, place your trolley on one side, and stand on the other just to make sure the aisle is blocked until you're finished. Completely ignore anybody who is plainly trying to get through (nb If someone else dares do this to you, just use your trolley as a battering ram).

3) If someone else is looking at the same products that you want, you have two options. Either reach across them as if they aren't there to take what you want, or simply barging them out of the way will give you access to the whole shelf.

4) If your mobile phone rings or you see something you forgot you needed, you must stop IMMEDIATELY where you are, regardless of who might be following you. See 2) for a reminder on how to avoid letting anyone get past.

5) On reaching the checkout, use your trolley as a battering ram again to avoid letting anyone carrying three items get ahead of you. Then stay at the end of the checkout once you've loaded your purchases so the person with three items behind you can't put them on the conveyor belt.

6) Don't get any form of payment out until the cashier gives you the total, and react with complete surprise when asked to pay. Then commence searching through 47 plastic cards for your credit card. Do it again when asked for your loyalty card, because you had no idea that would be needed also. Then have a natter with the cashier until you see steam rising from the person with three items behind you.

7) On arriving at your car in the car park, open all your car doors so the people next to you can't get to their car (ensuring that at least one of your doors bangs their car). Put your trolley in front of their car just in case they manage to get into it.

ooooooooo doesn't it make you so mad when people are rude Evil or Very Mad

I had one the other morning.

Our mountain is a big, long, silly, steep mess. It's one vehicle wide most of the way and the other places all have cars parked (usually badly) on one side or the other so it's one vehicle wide anyway. The 'pavements' are a few inches wide in places and non existant in others so all the school kids and mums have no choice but to chance it in the road with buggies etc. There's loads of junctions and some on the downward side are prone to people whizzing out because they lack the ability to pull up to a steep juntion and use the handbrake Rolling Eyes

Buses go up and down it at busy times and aside from parked cars there are only some places wide enough for two buses to pass.

Tractors use it with trailers and various agricultural attachments.

The bottom comes out onto a mess of junctions and another bus stop which causes a back up when there's a bus there as it bungs all the roads up including the hill.

The harbour and fish market forklifts etc bomb about down there too so it's all good fun.

In the winter the locals, farmers and bus drivers all give way to each other in the sensible ways as opposed to being 'i have right of way therefore i'm taking it' type way. It keeps things moving. During the summer it all goes spectacularly wrong when the types from That London turn up en masse with caravans, 4 wheel-drives and faces like cracked p1sspots and drive like they do at home (rudely and with the intent of being as awkward as possible so everyone else is as miserable as them).

I will give way and reverse when not really required to for someone not familiar with the hill who is clearly struggling because it's quicker and easier and if they say thanks that's good enough.

The other morning a bint in a larger car than mine jumped forward from a passing place. I'd already left the last one and driven down to the next one but just as i got to it she leapt forward blocking the road. If she'd been nice or a struggling bint i would have reversed my tiny-engined, crap-handbrake little car all the way back up the mountain past the obstacles and barmy pedestrians to the last one for her.

However, she obviously assessed the car size issue and instead decided to glare at me. She then did a 'shoo' motion with her hands to 'direct' me to go back. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

So i turned the engine off, got my phone out and rang the school to say we'd be late as the hill was blocked (not a lie) and just sat there chatting to Tiny Cornish.

In the end after much gesticulating and hand-to-forehead dramatics she rolled back out of the way. When i went past she was flustered and shouting so i made Tiny Cornish smile and wave cheerily to her with me.

The moral of that is, i'll go out of my way to help you if you're nice to me. But if you're rude be prepared to sit there all cnuting day till i win at who can be more childish Evil or Very Mad

I get this every day on my commute into/from London.

Top three for me are:

1. People who cannot seem to walk at the same pace after they answer their mobile phones.

2. Sheep commuters dithering at the ticket barriers. There's another 20 gates to your right. Use them!!

3. People barging you out the way. Yes, I know you're in a rush. Yes, I know you're bigger than me. Yes, I know you're a wanker in a posh suit. But no, that does not mean you are entitled to treat other pedestrians like complete cunts and rugby tackle them out the way.

Urgh! Some days I wish this planet would get hit by a huge asteroid.

I may well die, but if all the fuckwits come with me, it'll be worth it!

Indeed.

Visited Bergen one Christmas. Stayed in a small house overlooking Sørfjorden. Beautiful!

Think we've all had dumb fucks stop right infront of us, that's bad enough but what's worse is when they decided to move off in some bloody stupid direction without doing a life saver just when you've managed to figure out how to get by them which 99% of the time results in one of the kids being barged to the floor.

I've had a VERY similar experience. Mad
Let me explain.
I was on a flight to Beijing, China - I too was at the window seat over the wing (my fave place on a plane). Mr Thick-Set Business Man sat in the middle seat next to me and promptly read his broadsheet newspaper, with both his left elbow and left knee invading my space. The amount of times he friggin' elbowed me each time he turned the pages...

I prodded him and asked him to stop plenty of times, and he feigned 'not to understand' grrr and in the end I had to resort to shouting "OW!!!" really loudly to get him to stop...

Anyway, because he'd been such a thoughtless git, when it came to landing and he suddenly became really interested in my window...I was able to exact mini-revenge. I made myself as wide as I could Laughing and blocked the view for the window for the entire landing. Hah! *insert raspberry*

People talking extremely loudly on a mobile phone whilst in a queue in a petrol station / super market / bank etc. Yes, we know you're on the phone but shut the fuck up and keep the noise down, you're not on your own.

I had a car towing a caravan do this to me on the Loch Eriboll road. Too busy rubbernecking to see that I'd passed the last passing place and he needed to pull over into the one that he promptly and merrily sailed past. I made him reverse about 80 metres - it wasn't a small caravan either. Laughing

No experience with Norweigans, but a lot of Europeans are as thoughtless. They NEED to walk two abreast jabbering to each other, and I have to stop walking in order to facilitate this if there's an A board or pillar box in the way. Maybe I should be grabbing at the throat of one of them and explaining our genteel culture of manners and consideration.

People who stop in doorways really do my head in. You've just walked all the way around some big department store with your friends and had plenty of opportunity to discuss where you're going to go next but the best idea is CLEARLY to stop right in the doorway blocking the path for anyone trying to get in or out to decide whether you're going to Starbucks or Caffe Nero for whatever the latest trendy coffee is.

Oh you've just seen Doris from the daycare centre walking into Tesco as you're leaving? Better block the entire doorway with granny trolleys and bags of shopping so you can tell her about all the exciting new knitting patterns you've found ready for knitting club with the rest of the coffin dodgers on Tuesday nights. But oh, aren't these young people so rude and impatient these days? Twisted Evil

I've taken to just barging my way through now. If they don't have the courtesy to engage their brains and consider others for a brief second then I haven't got the courtesy to engage manners. I only go to shops when I absolutely have to and the middle of Manchester is full of brainless mongs at the best of times so by the time you've barged through them and they've realised what's happened you're already halfway home.

I now feel sorry for mums with pushchairs, having politely guided my daughters double buggy around without incident and gritting my teeth when people were obviously so put out when I asked them nicely if I could get by, a young student and her friend watched me coming along the narrow pavement they were stood yakking on and all i got was the "im going to pretend I havent seen or heard you" look.

I said excuse me, got ignored and took the fucking bitch out at the ankles Mr. Green

My traveling/commuting gripes are both related to suitcases on wheels... Not a proper suitcase, they're fine, the briefcases sized ones that fuckwits now feel compelled to use instead of, well briefcases...

I guess it is so they don't injure their back, but FFS unless they are carrying a uranium diary in there it's not exactly gonna tweak much is it ?

My problem is twofold.

1) They don't realise that's they are now 3 feet longer than they are used to, and that their metal tail can be used to carve through the knees of the rest of the passengers who have just got of the commuter train into Waterloo at 8.30, while they walk along in ignorant fuckwittery bliss.

2) They stop at the top of the escalator out of the station (blocking it) to push down the handle on their portable lunchbox. They then block the bottom of the escalator pulling it up because they cannot manage to carry the fucking thing four feet without risking a hernia.

Pricks the lot of 'em.

One of my pet hates is at medium sized shops with multiple tills. The issue starts with a few people waiting at the only open till, then another member of staff opens up a new till to get rid of the queue faster... but then people at the back of the line jump straight to the other till.
