Right now, centrally heated garages are being built and carpets are being rolled out, in preparation for the first one off the production line.
Just like the RC30, no doubt, a fair few will never turn a wheel and spend the next 25 years bubble wrapped and appear on Ebay with ridiculous starting bids! Rolling Eyes

Can it live up to its predecessors? We'll have to wait and see.

It's depressing thinking "can't wait for that to roll off of the production line so I can start searching youtube for ride by and exhaust videos", should have more ambition in life and think yes I will own and ride that one day...................nah gimme an NSR 400!

your too cynical pal. not everyone with a RC30 wraps them in cotton wool or never lets sunlight hit them incase the paint fades. some of us actually use (and abuse them) because life is too short and they are too damn good even today and make great road bikes. I really don't worry how it affects the value if i decide to use it for 1 mile a year or 4000 (not that it actually does much)

And if the new Honda is infact a V4 then count me in the queue and i will be more than happy to report back how it handles in the wet and winter.

I'm not having a pop at you, you obviously bought it for the experience of riding it. Thumbs Up

However, I was around when they unleashed the RC30 and I can only remember ever seeing one being ridden, on the road.
I, distinctly, remember passing it somewhere around Guthries, on my 350 YPVS, early one TT morning, sometime in the early 90's! Cool

If the new bike is released in the same numbers as the RC30, then I can't envisage many of them making it onto the road, they'll be "collectable" straight out of the box!

i know and you are right the "collectors" will be buying their way into the queue to obtain something no one else can.

I to grew up with the 30 and a friend of mine used to race one in the late 80's.
I was lucky enough to be able to buy mine in 2003 before prices rocketed and they got "trendy"
I have been lucky enough to buy these so called collectable bikes before prices went mental more often that not, but i will say the RC was a great purchase. still feels great to ride today and is not cool enough to worry the modern sportbike rider but it can still surprise the odd sports bike rider who mistakes it for just "another 400"
This one can be often seen around chester / north wales rain or shine lol

CRT is about a superbike engine (in Hondas case an IL4) and putting it in a purpose built frame.
Honda have been trying to pitch a budget version of their GP bike for customer teams to run. It's not a CRT, but could be one if they made 300 road going versions then used the engine from it in CRT bikes.

It'll be a 1000cc V4.

I want one.

Translation of what Honda said:

Quote:
In 2014, that we have already written, will the RCV213V replica road bike that will be approved for the WSBK and STK1000.

True or not I don't know

The Honda blurb on this goes something along the lines of 'putting the excitement back into motorcycles by engineering excellance'.

Lets see......
Carby 'blades with slap happy 16'' front wheels, certainly exciting.
Y2K, dodgy FI that lurches badly on small throttle openings, and then the wiring loom disintigrates....
951 models. Overbored 929 that cracks its cylinder block.
'08 onward 1000's. Can burn a litre of oil in less than a thousand miles......
They all have self imolating reg/recs and alternators that like to burn themselves out.
Apart from thet..... They are generally well built bikes.

Pick any manufacturer and I think bcf can come up with a list of 'common' problems longer than that.

I worked at a honda dealer back in 94, we had a letter come from honda which basically read something along the lines of---"please inform fireblade owners that if they travel 1000 miles in excess of 120mph such as on the autobahn then in these conditions a litre of oil will be burnt, this is normal"
