The insurance first offered me 1350...I said I wasn't interested

They have upped it to 1500 which is what I expected.

If I want to keep the bike they'll give me 1290 which is the 1500 less the salvage cost.

so....

Do I take the whole money or keep the bike as well in the hope I can sell it for spares?

If you have the space to store it and there's enough to make money on, then yes, why not? It's a lot of hassle to break it down, deal with buyers, and all that stuff, but if you're willing to do so, go for it.

What's the damage like?

If it was me I'd take the money but that's cause I'd have no idea what to do with a written off bike. Your choice dependent on whether you're interested in projecting it/selling it in parts as said above Thumbs Up GL either way!

left hand fairings smashed to oblivion, radiator split due to front wheel hitting it, forks bent and, subframe twisted.

I was thinking of spares or repair for the whole thing.

Now looking at what I can get with 1290 or 1500

I'd consider taking the £1290 and the bike. Then i'd spend the winter turning the kwak into a track bike for next year.

You could later sell the kwak as a track bike with no V5 so eliminating the necessary bureaucratic steps to get it road worthy. Zx6R track bikes go for relatively good money at the start of a new track/race season. When you're bored of it of course. Wink

There's your answer then, Well done on getting a quick settlement. Thumbs Up
I'd probably look to get at least £400 for it as a spares and repair as the tank and exhaust system could sell quickly if any good,
Then you've still got the frame/swingarm, shock, rear wheel, engine, loom etc and tidbits that would sell over time.. you could easily make that figure if not almost double.

I have also a development to report regarding the ZX10r today, it has been released and I will collect it tomorrow and assess the damage.
Pics will be up in a new thread, I'll be continuing my legal advise thread as the wanker warned me that they'll be looking at what they can report me for on account of the witness statements when I declined an interview.
I said "do what you need to do, I have nothing to say to you". Cool

Cheers,
Mac.

Because I have too many other things going on to fix that as well, as much as i would like a street fighter I know it will sit outside in its present state until I got moaned at by the neighbors.
