Rain. Get out there! (well sort of!)

Just a quick report from me as I've just done my first 'wet-run'.

It struck me that there's no guarantee it'll be dry when I try again at mod2, so I thought I'd avoid being a chicken dipper, so to speak.

Just a little run around Brighton's streets today, 30mph and below.

Went past the Dib Lemon's conference and got my first nod from a biker cop too.

I was waiting at some lights and another biker pulled up alongside - I could hear his indicator ticking, I was going straight ahead. Lights went to green and the other biker followed me - had left his indicator on (another learner I had noticed by this point!)

Tut tut, now that's poor, with noisy indicators and all! He corrected it before I felt the need to warn him. Black Suzuki cruiser style - was this you??

Anyway I got back without incident after an hour, glad to report that my RST gloves are waterproof and I'm bone dry. Confidence much improved in wet conditions.

So folks, go out because it's raining and get it under your belts. But start with a slow speed run around.

My mod 2 was done during torrential raid around Worcester, with a 4 hour lesson before.

When I got back in the car after I was completely soaked to the skin. was fun though

Rumour has it that its easier to do mod 2 in the wet. After all your taking it a lot more steady and easy in the wet and the instructor will have several tests in the same conditions so he'll want to get it over and done with,

Its... Its.... Its.... a glove.
I tend not to use them, too often. When I do, I have three pairs of Z-Custom Leather 'Deer-Skin' gloves they made for me many many years ago, and a pair of "black ones" I pulled out of a bargain bin one day when it was really cold & had left the Z's at home. Dont really pay much attention to kit. Got more than I ever use as is.

Teflon Mike, it's fair to say you're posts can be pretty damn informative at times. I've certainly had a good amount of help from you. But since this is an open forum and we can all in theory say what we like, as you do, and everybody else does, then I'd like to throw in my open opinion, that you're often pretty degrading to people for no fucking reason!

I saw that as a gentle prodding, myself. Not entirely serious!

However a hardened veteran such as TM may have lost sight of how it feels to be a newbie out on two motorised wheels. I thought it would be wise not to bite off more than I can comfortably chew at first.

Now that I'm confident in dry conditions, I felt it would be an appropriate time to go out in the wet without sliding under a bus. Although I'm sure the pain of compound fractures would be soothed by my going up in the estimation of a near-perfect stranger on an internet forum.

Give him his due, his response to my one-fingered glove was calm and measured.

i dont know, think back to when you was young and "innocent" and just starting out, with the stress of all the tests/lessons weather isnt usually the first thing on peoples minds.

i mean i have to admit, i've always known "yeah its going to piss it down on days i ride and probably for my test" especially as it pissed with rain when i got the bike lol.

im just hoping the weather is try for my module 1 round 3.

I imagine Suffolk gets its fair share, I hate sidewinds. I used the bus lane on the coast road once as there were no buses - felt much safer.

They're speaking of opening them up to motorbikes but haven't yet. I wonder if a good arguement could be made for using bus lanes on safety grounds in these conditions if stopped by the fuzz? (ooer)
