 Posted: 11:55 - 26 Sep 2012 Post subject: Using Traders/Dealers to buy a bike? |
 |
|
Hey guys, im currently looking for a bike and i found some that are for sale, however most of them are through traders/dealers and with low mileage and price like for example 04 honda cbr 600rr with 3972miles, 2 owners, full service history going for £3590! I find it quite suspicious but at the same time don't want to waste any time and go and buy it! Has anyone bought a used bike from a trader/dealer what are your experiences and do you think is worth it e.g. could they bring the mileage down, or sell repaired damaged bike? I also read a few reviews about the dealer that Im looking at, their is negative and positive responses, also they have high turnover of bikes therefore there could be reasonable argument, but im not too sure, so hopefully you lot can help me out....
Cheers

Try a Ducati 848. I did a bunch of quotes a while back, CBR600RR was 700 GBP, the 858 was 1540 (all TPO; aiming for a similar class of bike, of course) ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4

You need theft on it as a minimum, it will get nicked.
Are you anywhere close to Kent, you are welcome to try mine out for size, its a vicious little bugger and the first few rides are like you are balancing on a dildo. |
Thanks, but I am nowhere near Kent, but yeah I know what you mean its a bit pricey, and if i do get it i will flash all my money out, i sat on one its not too bad... but yeah riding it will give me a whole new perspective! I might go for drz 400sm, cheap on insurance and you can get them in a mint condition! Maybe in 2 years time, although my conscience is killing me, because i can afford it, but is it really worth it?
Oh by the way back to the topic, what do you think of dealers? ____________________ Theory passed 9/03/2012, Mod 1 passed 29/03/2012, Mod 2 passed 19/07/2012. |

No wheelies after 11pm?
That's looks to be a reasonable price for that CBR, and there are plenty of "R" bikes out there with low mileages. It's the end of September, they're not going to be able to dictate terms on that bike until the spring.
Anyone can get ripped off by a dealer selling a lemon as a peach - even stinkwheel .
So judge the bike, not the dealer. Get down there, have a good look at it and its documentation, and take someone cynical with you if you can.
If you're in any doubt, walk away, if they won't let you ride it, or don't seem interested in dealing on it, walk away. You're paying them a premium for a service, and there will be another bike along in a minute. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
