Sorry, no flounce ... just the hairbrain thought that indian summer will come in force.

Today i .....

Summer jacket packed away .. maxi neck thing worn.

Unlined winter jacket out ... worn.

Base layers out ... worn.

Fan packed away.

Last but not least, double furry Slumberland heated blanket for me and dogs.

Now looking at my winter duck / swan birdy filled mahoosive duvets.

I considered breaking out the emergency 2nd t-shirt this morning to go under the short-sleeved work shirt I'm wearing?

Next week I'm thinking I might have to go back to using a bed-sheet again..

We had our indian summer. It was that first 2 weeks in September.

Now we've skipped autumn and entered winter.

I packed away the A/C unit and brought out the heater, put on the winter blankets the other week. I am prepared. Bikewise it's been almost 2 weeks since I've owned one Crying or Very sad But when I eventually get my KLE from ze father I will be getting all the thermal linings put back in my gear. Autumn is usually a good time for riding, the air is very refreshing.

At 3:30am this morning I was stood in the cold pouring rain trying to spray a temporary stop line on a flooding planed (grooved, you love them don't you) carriageway so we could turn the traffic lights back on.

As the paint ran everywhere I was wearing three layers of clothing and remembering I rode 50 miles home from a bike rally in Norfolk wearing just a t-shirt on top..... 3 short weeks ago.

I rode home from Ulverston to Sheffield (140 miles) in some of the worst rain I have ever seen on Monday. On the two hour ride within 10 minutes I could feel the water slosh in my boot. Twenty, my balls got cold then wet, textile trouser fail. Thirty and the rain had got through my leather jacket zip. Times when the spray was so bad all I could see was grey and tailights at motorway speeds. Not fun. By the time I got to Huddersfield I was starting to lose it I think. Freezing and without a dry item of clothing on. Considered the wetsuit trick of having a piss, would have made no odds to the damp at all. Still, big scotch and a bath fixed that Thumbs Up Although I don't think my jacket will ever dry out.
But yeah, today for the ride to work, textile coat with full liner and Pathans came out Sad

Got up early Sunday morning specifically to ensure not missing out on just going for an hour's ride before the bad weather set in. Timed it to perfection - just started raining as I was putting the bike away.

20 minutes later my patio was failing to deal with the rainfall and I thought my garage was going to flood Laughing

It's been weird here, sudden torrents of rain for a few minutes with blazing sunshine throughout then just sunshine and surprised wet-people Confused

Lots of rainbows tho, awwwww Rolling Eyes

My compost bin blew over. . . .again. But we live in a wind tunnel and it happened all the time till i went out with the drill and loads of tent pegs. I've moved it and was clearly over-optimistic about the 'shelter' in it's new position Sad

I don't actually think that it's that cold yet?

The only reason I wore textile trousers today rather than jeans was because these are my last clean pair of jeans so I can't afford to get caught out in a rain shower until I get off my lazy arse and do some washing/ironing.

The wind has picked up a lot though. I may have possibly scared the living daylights out of a cyclist when a sudden, very strong, side wind blew me at 40mph on to the other side of the road where a cyclist was leisurely riding. Laughing

Its not really, but heavy driving rain and high winds at motorway speeds gets cold quick. After two hours it does start to hurt.
Now that I'm back on my 5 mile commute, not a problem Very Happy

Ah yes, that skipped my mind.

I'm on a 5 mile (10-15 minute) commute now too so temperature isn't too bad. Though I did ride home Monday morning for 30 miles (about an hour and a half including getting lost) in the pouring rain. Temperature wise still not too bad... my clothes were soggy as hell though! Laughing

My parents rang to tell me today Rolling Eyes
Oh and to check it was still raining here

I like the colder weather, I put the bike away, never used to, but do now my joints are fubbard. Shooting season is well under way and I'm looking forward to some working tests with the dogs. The cooler weather is better for them too. Can start ferreting again soon too Smile

Hehehehehe! My sofa makes everyone's feel small and unfulfilling Wink There were some interesting comments when it was being moved in and they were struggling to get it through the door. "push harder!!!", "god it's so big!!" and suchlike Laughing

I do try and sit on the bench if i'm just having a quick coffee as sitting on the sofa leads to sort of over-relaxing and losing track of time Confused
