I have a 2000 bandit 600, and when I start it the choke cuts the engine instantly. I use the throttle to gets the juices flowing now. Even when the bike has been out all day, if I go to use the choke (to show someone the problem) it will still do it. Not a massive problem just wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Sounds like you want a service with carbs tuned/balanced. Worse case you have a hole in a carb diaphgram.

Choke should always stop a warm engine, but it shouldn't stop a cold engine in fact the engine should barely start from cold without it.

You're running rich, how many miles do you get from a full tank to reserve?

Mine did this until recently. I think it was down to the pilot air screw being too far open, so it was getting too rich of a mixture when idling, therefore by opening a the choke and making it any richer, it would stall.

Maybe your has the same problem?

What happens when it's hot and you have it idling and then rev it? When you let go of the throttle, do the revs hang a little bit before going back down?

Yeah slightly, and I dont think I'm getting as many miles as I should be. I mean, I rag the fook out of it (Cat and fiddle road, snake pass, woodhead Laughing ) but I still think its drinking a bit more than it should

OK. I just had a quick look at the bandit manual. If it is mixture then you want to turn your four screws all the way in. Not tight, juust till they dont turn and turn them all out 1 3/4 the way out. Thats one full turn and a 3/4 turn on each one. This is if running standard air box.

+1 What 1888 says Thumbs Up

But might be worth just checking the colour of plugs before you go adjusting carbs just to make sure, if it is running rich plug will likely be blackened and sooted up.
