cheers Mr. Green

quite happy with myself. no nerves, nothing. just got on and off i went.

i have to take a spin down to m&p to get some waterproof trousers, that's 45-50 mile away. not sure how far exactly with cutting the motorway section out. but mate lives nearish there in neath as well, so least i can go get a coffee before i come back.

then i have a book i "need" to deliver to my girlfriend in leicester... about 200 miles each way.

guess my learning curve'll be sharp Thumbs Up

Good to see a new rider rise to the challenge and start doing real distances. Just avoid heavy traffic and filtering for now. work on your technique, cornering, cluthc control, hard braking, swerves

That's a good distance if you feel it's aching your ass or your hands / arms take a break and treat yourself to a Mc Donalds & Coffee Cool

Praise the lord. Thumbs Up
It's a pet hate of mine..Indicators in general...To ban them would be simpler than getting people to use them correctly.

Glad you had a good first ride...I've forgotten mine..Well the one following the CBT I have.

cheers chaps.

went out again lastnight and worked out that the reason my light doesn't appear to do anything, was that it was facing the treetops... duly adjusted, and lights up decent amount of road now as long as i'm not on idle.

been out again today for probably another 40 or so miles. was feeling good about my riding after a chap on a big bike passed me with a beep and an enthusiastic thumbs up, but then a lorry came round a corner on the wrong side as i was going into a tight right downhill. lttle swerve, big lean, but got round him whilst shouting many expletives at the twat. cracked on with my ride and got a few nods which made me happy again.

messed up a hill start like 4 times.... might have been in wrong gear as the bike kept stalling. but probably just me not giving it enough revs and clutch. never mind Wink

You'll get used to it. The trick is to always try and anticipate what might be about to happen, real hazard perception as opposed to the 'click when it's almost too late' approach used in the computer game.

Hint. When you come to a stop, tap the gear stick down a few times until it won't move, that way you're always sure to be in first. Eventually you'll find you automatically downchange correctly without having to think about it.

yeah, i did have plenty of time to react so it wasn't all that bad.

i did after i stalled the first time, kicked the lever down down down down.... was in first, or not wanting to go down . was just me being a pansy on the throttle for the amount of clutch i'd given it i think Thumbs Down

something to practice anyway Very Happy

Every Thursday I do Reading to London and back. I have to use the A4 because I'm part of the CBT crowd, so it's a gauntlet of traffic lights, filtering, tired arms, aching arse, stiff legs, and, by the end, a dazed out of focus feeling from the constant noise around my ears which I'm yet to figure out. (I's only loud when I've got my balaclava on - need it when I'm going home at 11pm!)
