There's a lot of Quint types down here. During a community meeting about anti-social behaviour a weather-beaten and wellie-booted example stood up in his oilers and began his speech (in all seriousness) with a hard-bitten, squinty "you all know me. . . . "

I've swam with Hammerhead Sharks............. didn't know it at the time but the were only about 10m away from me and I was 250m away from the shore. I did wonder at the time why I was the only person in the sea and why no one ran into the sea to get a kids ball. I just thought that was Americans for you.

I've got photos of sharks that I've "bumped into" while diving, but the camera is always really shaky, for some reason. Probably the current or surge or something.

I'm not ashamed to admit that big sharks scare the shite out of me.

Out on dry land, I reckon I could have a shark in a fight 9 times out of 10. In the water, you don't stand a chance.....

One of my idle phobias is being in a plane crash over the open ocean, surviving the crash but then being slowly circled (and ultimately devoured) by sharks in a USS Indianapolis stylee.

When I win the lottery, I shall purchase a big boat and take it into shark-infested waters. I will then dump a load of rubby-dubby into the water, and as the sharks approach, machine gun the fuck out of them.
