Right, so, Mod 1 practice went well yesterday.
The usual slow start on the avoidance part but I was only a little under so it wasn't too hard to speed up a bit.
Quite impressed with the power of the XJ6 on the way to the DSA centre btw, apparently I had a grin like a Cheshire cat when we got there. Laughing
My main concern now is the awful cramp I experienced around about the top of my thigh area on the way back.
I tried the usual leg extensions and a quick bit of massage while on the 30mph straight roads which eased things a bit but now I'm worried it might creep in on my Mod 2 where I feel my aforementioned antics might be frowned upon. Confused

Not had a go on the XJ6 but there's one up for sale near me. I've heard they are a bit lurchy on the throttle, did you find this?

Make sure you're wearing warm clothes, it's getting cold now. I get cramp like nobody's business when it gets cold. You could also have a banana beforehand - keep the potassium level up,

When is your mod 1 test?

Test is tomorrow, thanks for the banana tip btw and yes you're right, I think it would be wise to put the linings back in the textiles. Wink
I've also just read somewhere that hydration plays a big part as well.

I did find the throttle very 'responsive'! Laughing
It made starting the slow ride part a little interesting.
I thought I'd find the weight difference between my XT and the XJ6 during the slower exercises a little intimidating but I was quite surprised how balanced and nimble it felt. Thumbs Up
If you ever get the chance, have a go on an XJ6, the acceleration is awsome! Thumbs Up

Make sure you get there nice and early too - so you have time to stroll around and get calm.

Also will help stretch those legs a bit so could help with the cramp during.

Very best of luck too Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I'd put money on you getting cramp because you grip the bike like this.

I did my tests on an ER6-n, you're right, these bikes just feel so much more stable than little 125's. The only down side is when you get back on your 125 it's neither as stable or as quick. There's an XJ6 in one of the bike places near me, might see if I can get a go on it - in fact they pretty much have the full range of 'first big bike' recommendations.

It seems a bit late to be suggesting this, but I'm sure your trainer must have said it - for the slow ride, you should be using the clutch to control your speed (along with the rear brake) - that way the roll on/off of the throttle will have less direct impact on your speed.

Let's hope next week is a good week for the many mod 1's and 2's that seem to be happening for people here!

Best of luck for the test tomorrow...

Despite the wind and the rain, I passed with just the one rider fault.
ONE kph too slow on the first run of the emergency stop ffs, but then I suppose the line has to be drawn somewhere. Rolling Eyes
Ah well, I'm a happy bunny. Dance!
But my 'waterproofs' aren't. Laughing

Had the Mod 2 practice today, now I'm bolloxed!Sleeping
All went reasonably well, didn't make too many mistakes, nothing I cant fix.
A couple of 'wrong lanes', and went the wrong way a couple of times but then I'm not overly familiar with the area.
Didn't seem to be any really serious mistakes though, although I hesitated a couple of times pulling out at a couple of round-a-bouts.
Just didn't want to be seen to be disrupting traffic on the round-a-bout.
Anyway, half six kick off tomorrow with the test just after 9. Thumbs Up

Oh yeah, no cramp today. Thumbs Up

Best of luck to ya! I passed mine yesterday, it's a doddle, it's over before you even know it. We were making our way back towards the test centre and I was thinking "hang on, it's only been 5 mins!"

I thought that too.
We went out this morning around the test area and rode around for a short while before heading back to the examiners building.
When we got back I asked if we'd done one of the routes, to which the instructor replied that we'd actually done two. Laughing
