Call me a complete noob and you will be bang on the money.

I've done the obvious and googled it already, so I understand the ACF stands for Anti Corrosion Formula, which is fair enough, but my question is, where do I spray it?

I'm thinking "avoid the tyres and the brake pads", but that's just common sense. Do I just spray this shit all over the entire bike, missing out the aforementioned bits of course?

there is no point in doing the plastics but it won't harm it. don't do the seat, tyres and brakes. everything else is fine, electrics and all. put something down on the floor though as it gets everywhere

If you want to save some money I recommend using a small painting brush. You will use few times less of the ACF than when spraying.

Just pour a very small amount of ACF into a small container/bottle and apply on a bike.

It will last a lifetime.

BTW: https://www.eliseparts.com/img/up/90/corrosion-block-grease-fc6e2.jpg is made by the same company and works amazing. Lasts longer but makes the bike dirty easier.

We could probably do with a good sticky thread on how to clean your bike / chain etc. Seems to me like it's something new riders wont know about.

How about one of the old hands fancy having a go? Why hasn't Tef written a 16 page epic on this? Wink

There's been threads and posts on this in the past. No doubt a search would reveal at least some of them. There's also very good material on youtube.

Here's a great link that's been posted here before. TFO with TV? Nothing on apart from self obsessed reality muppets? Wish there was a bike TV channel?

Try this - https://www.garagenight.tv

Here's an episode where they're on about changing chains and sprockets. Cleaning and lubricating chains gets a good mention. It's a 2 parter, but here's part 1, https://www.garagenight.tv/ep-7-changing-a-chain-and-sprockets/

Good stuff

I found it easier to spray the ACF onto a cloth and then wipe the bike with that.
Spraying directly onto panels induces runs.

Spray is good for getting into the nooks and crannies. Catch the excess in a cloth and wipe the bike over with it.

Have found the ACF spray really good stuff, since i started using it last November & have put the corrosion block stuff on last time i cleaned the bike properly and 4 months later has held up well.

ACF cleans off easily with muc off spray cleaner not sure how easy the corrosion block cleans off bike is long over due a clean so will be finding out soon ... ish.

Does any one know if the corrosion block would be suitable to use on the chain ?

Best tip for cleaning i was given is to use two buckets.

One bucket is just for rinsing your cloth/brush/whatever once you have washed the muck off your bike, so that your are always applying clean water to the bike from your first bucket.

Gotta say, a "Care and Keeping" thread would be useful. I came into biking as a complete innocent. Put me in front of a computer or even bits of a computer and I'm fine. Different story when it comes to the spanners.

Old Thread Alert!

The last post was made 13 years, 128 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
