Last month l replaced the starter sprag clutch on my BMW G650XC which had failed, this incurred the replacement of the free wheel and sprag retaining ring as the failed sprag had worn theses two parts at a cost of £300 in all.
Now that this all has been replaced the bike now starts with no grinding banging noises unlike before but when l shut the engine off l can hear a clicking noise from the sprag as the engine comes to a stop, it does,nt make this noise when the engine is running but only when the engine is turned off and it spins down. Could this be the sprag dragging? any ideas how to correct this as before the sprag failed there was no such noise. ____________________ Past:NRG50,AF1125(x2),NSR125RR,ZZR250,CX500,VFR400,KR1S,ZZR600(x2),CB400N,YZF1000(x2),KH125,Z200,FX400R,CBR954RR(x2)GPZ500S,GT550,VFR750F(x2),RD350N,XR650R,CBR600F,CB250,KDX250,YZF750R,CRM250,400EXC,KLR650,TTR600RE,DR350S,R100GSPD,RGV250,VMAX1200,DL650,KZ750 Present:G650XC,C12,CRF450X,1190ADV |

its how they get worn, zip you can do about it, it a kick back froom the engine,
the old rotax motors had a de-comp lever so you could kill your engine like that, which would save the sprag, no such option on the water cooled motors im afraid, ____________________ the humans are dead
