Hi, can anyone help, I've cleaned carbs etc and when it starts it runs almost perfect, although can cut out for no reason. If I put fuel direct into carbs it starts first time, if not it takes forever then needs a jump start to get going, I've burnt out a starter and a solenoid so far, feels like fuel isn't being sucked into carbs, fuel valve works fine and pet cap air hole is clean, any suggestions welcome

I just posted this in a similar thread, but if you have an inline fuel filter, remove it and see if it improves.

Thay hate inline filters. I have had a Few GS's over the years and not one liked a filter.

make sure the fuel lines are clean and working properly. You might have a dirty tap??? Rust in the tank??

Also if you have vacuum lines make sure they aren't split etc

In that case I would be going over the carbs again. They're utter bastards, and contain far too many long, narrow tubes that love to get clogged with shit. A can of carb cleaner and a supply of compressed air is the way forward, along with a lot of swearing.

Clean your carbs again, using (as suggested) compressed air and carb cleaner. You'll go through a can of each by the time it's over, I promise you.

It's also worth stripping the fuel tap - it doesn't take much to partially block it, or to obstruct the diaphragm. My GS behaved itself far more reliably once I'd stripped and cleaned out the tap.

It's also worth re-checking the state of the slides and the carb diaphragms, since they're what determine how well the vacuum is formed. I hope for your sake that they're undamaged though, because going by the price of the ones for the 650, your wallet will be in counselling for some time yet if you need to buy replacements.
