Had some numpty attempt to steal a bike from my residence. found it in a river, pulled it out and got it home, fine no big deal.

The problem is that they have pulled all the cables from the bottom of the ignition switch?(where u put the key in) and now the only way to start it is by connecting black to red and starting it. the key is obsolete because of this.

Rectification issues lie within the fact that I can solder them back on but there are 6 cables green, red, black, brown, brown with a stripe, and black with a stripe.

Is anyone able to tell me which goes where or even better does anyone else have a cb250 (its quite old maybe early 70's) and could supply me with a photo that i can work to, would rather fix this myself that pay to take it somewhere.

Also i know i could get a replacement but considering all that needs doing is to put the wired where they came from......you know.

Cheers any help much appreciated,

Mike

Sorry to hear about your bike !

Scum of today !

If you going to attempt to do the work yourself, I would first get myself a wiring diagram, ( look into the thread on here ) study it very carefully and then get yourself a solder gun & wire, then solder them together and get some plastic heat srink wraps that cover the wires.

That's all of course if you can get the ignition to work.
Probs would benefit more if you get a new unit and solder it in.

Good luck !

Matt

absolutely no point getting a new unit i wouldnt bother . what would be the bennifits . none considering your is okay just needs solderin

im with you on fixing the one u have . i hate wiring bud . i once made a complete loom and it was honestly less hassle than connecting up a factory one minus the block connectors .unless when they have yanked the wires out they have broke the circuit or contact points off . but it sounds like you have already had a mooch inside

ave a look here . blue box of bottom of diagram . should be able to work it out from that with a little head scratching. . good luck . sorry to hear about the theft. neeed any more help upload a couple of pics of the disc on the bottom of the assembly the wires go to and we will work it out

https://www.elektronik-sachse.de/AAC/diagrams/honda_cb350.jpg Thinking

edit* ive posted u up the wrong diagram havent i . ill find u another tommorow

Yes I certainly concur with that opinion, yet nevertheless kids will be kids and remain disrespectful of other people and their property.

Its is a 1979 Honda CB250N Superdream.

I would really like to fix this myself, to keep the costs of repairing this 'incident' low.

Thanks again for your help

great pics big help Thumbs Up

wen u turn the key all it does is rotate a parallel to that one thats on the inside the 3 posistions of the key at each stage will allign the contact points on each disc creating your circuit . you already know witch two wires are your igntions . so for now if you need to use the bike all you need to do is unbolt the ignition unit from the top yoke so its a bit easier to access and try
the two ignition wires on the contact.
with your key in the on possistion until you find the rite combination .
dont worry i doubt you will blow any fuses. if you have
a multimeter even better u can just test the circuit.

Laughing look what i just found https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/graphics/parts/35100413007P_1_large.jpg

hold the ctrl button on your keyboard and push + key a few time to zoom in to get a closer look Thumbs Up wa hayyyyyyy

the other wires was just to your instrument lights and wot not

:karma: hi dude,

another wet dream!!

some pics of rest of bike would be good.

no land line at home so all this done in library, sorry no pics.

wires:
green is earth and black/white is ign kill, earthed to kill.

red is positive feed from battery and black is live feed from ign switch.

brown from memeory is side light and the other brown with tracer is park light.

switch is ign off, ign on, then park light only.

find sw base "key", small plastic bit which fits into "key slot" to align base correctly.

will be back in a mow, just gonna try sommut

Holy cow, wow thanks that was extremely helpful! Laughing

All done, soldered and functioning correctly....I think.

The two rear indicators are broken, one completely and the other works and flashes but it isnt mounted no more.

Thing with these are when indicating RIGHT the indicator lamp on the dash doesnt flash but both front and back bulbs to.....
When indicating LEFT (rear left not working) the indicator lamp on the dash stays permanantly on..
Im assuming this is to do with the fault and lack of indicator coompleteing a circuit we have replacements on the way so will see then just wanted to know if anything terrible will pop up??

ALso Thanks again for all your help...you guys have been more than helpful and for that im grateful

my bikes have always corresponded to those same symptoms concerning the indicators . your flash relay is working by the sound of it. probably just be your bulbs like you say .
nothing will pop you cant really go wrong there .

now put a chain on the thing. stops the thugs from taking it for a joy ride. Also think about putting a 'secret' kill switch under the seat or other out of sight area.

would be nice if bike companies as standard made the ignition part of the frame and ran the wiring through it . with a special tool to acompany it to dissmantle for maintinance or renewal Gagged
