PostPosted: 19:23 - 26 Sep 2012    Post subject: selling your bike Reply with quote

Hi guys im new on today just wanted to share something that happened to me today,,
Recently i saw a bike i like in a bike shop and wanted to do a PX on it with mine so i did a Google search for websites that value your bike
then i came across this site called sellbike(changed to stop people thinking i put spam on) they give a valuation of your bike just input your bike details etc then i thought i would get an email with the valuation you know the usual details history, condition, mileage etc and it gives you the chance to add 3 photos of your bike so i did,,,,
this was on sunday night, but after submitting it i got the confirmation to say one of the team would contact me with my valuation so there went the email etc
Monday came my mobile rang and got a polite girl called rebekah asking if it was my bike etc and was i wanting a price to sell or was i wanting to PX it so i said yes i had seen something and wanted to know what it was worth both part etc and privately if i wanted to sell it, she then said i will send you a link of our bikes to take a look at to see if i fancied any
so when i got in i went to my emails and had a look at the link site 543 bikes or something and saw a bike i like so i replied to her that if my valuation was right and the bike price came down maybe we could meet in the middle,

Tuesday i had a missed call with an answer message saying hi im john from 543 bike could i give him a call.

today my mobile rang again so i answered to the same number it was john

he asked if i had a price in mind
i said not being funny mate but that was why i input my bike details for you to tell me.
he relied you must have a figure and could i help him out
so i replied (oh it is a DRZ 400E 6000 miles history etc) i have seen them for anything between 1400 to 1800 on trader etc which they are but i wanted to get an idea of the valuation from you as you offer the service
oh no oh no he said then your way off he said
i said go on then what have you valued it as
he said between 200 to 400 pound
i replied are you taking the wee mate are you joking
he said well most people always think that thier bike is worth more
yeah but really do you what your talking about i said
he said yeah i know the bike
i just laughed at him
i then went on to say that the web site does not say anything about the services with the calls or even to offer me another bike
so in reallity the bmw i was looking at for 2995 is only worth about a 800 quid he said
dont be stupid!!
i cracked up and said mate i will be putting this on as many bike forums im on to let every body know not to go to your site as it is a waste of time
he told me i was being unreasonable hahahahahahah
so dont get in involved if you want to sell you ride Laughing Laughing Laughing

Nice try but you have to be WWW.PENIS-SHAFT-ENLARGEMENT.CO.UK/?546456fghdf a bit more subtle if you want to be a successful spammer.

I've got to back basher up on this one, and the warning he is shearing. I did exactly the same thing as him and had the same experience. I even spoke with the same people.

Long story short....they offered me £525 for my G1 ninja. I had been offered £900 part ex for it by another company and I have just sold it for £1200 privately. Total waist of time and far too much hassle getting a valuation from this company, only to be offered peanuts for your bike.

Their sister company 543bikes does have lots of bikes at very good prices. This kind of explains how they can sell them so much cheaper than other dealers.

Good for the buyer just not for the seller.

it's like sites like "webuyanycar" and "CarSupermarket" etc.

Take a good car in, they'll offer you 75% of list price for it.
Take a bad car in, they'll offer you 25% of list price.

either way you walk away with far less money or exchange value than the Bike/car is actually worth.

Personally i'd steer well clear of all of them

Well they sound like a bunch of proper scammers, at least you weren't daft enough to fall for it.

But if anywhere was offering to give me a proper bike valuation for free, they're going to be making their money somewhere. If its from advertising on the site, and they're open about it, thats fine. If its because they're selling/giving your details to people who want to rip you off, that's not on at all.

And if you're rating something as spam, at least read the bloody thing, basher was obviously saying "Don't touch these guys with an AIDS-infected 2 by 4"...

I suspect because the post reads like an advert/response from sellbike.com.

Just to clarify, OP has bad experience of sellbike.com and suspects they are scam artists. Post/thread is a warning to others.

I would assume because it was confusing - it looked at first glance as though your account was hacked and all they could type was random words. I'd suggest using the quote button to make it clearer Wink
