Here and Suzuki is... from not in the top 10 in August... they're... wait for iiiiit...

A comfortable #3 after Honda and Yamaha. Shocked

WTF is going on? From selling something like 300 bikes in August, they've tripled their sales in September. Storming recovery. Thumbs Up BMW and Triumph also did really well, then it's a big drop to the also-rans.

Biggest "Adventure Sport" and 126-650cc seller was the V-Strom 650, which maybe helps to explain it. Bit of spit, lots of polish, some more price cuts, job done.

Overall, the picture remains the same though. 650-1000cc continues to recover slowly - but is still down on last year - and everything else is down except for 125s.

There's a big drop in litre+ sales compared to September 2011. Is it possible that Ewan-and-Charley bikers are realising that they don't really need 1200cc+ bikes to offroad across the Sainsbury's car park? Thinking

Hmm, no, because the R1200GS continues as the highest selling litre+ bike. Somebody else is losing those high margin sales - BMW are still sitting pretty.

Swings and roundabouts, but it doesn't look like there's any more money going to manufacturers, and there may be a bit less.

Winter's here. All the litre+ sports bikes are cosseted away and will not see the roads until at least Easter time next year. So no-one is going to go out and buy one. The big GS is maybe seen as an all round, all-year bike perhaps?

What was different last year to this though?

I honestly can't remember, did we have a nice September last year?

Probably gets one nicked each time here's there. Razz

Aaaah, for August and September, Suzuki were offering 3 years of both warranty and AA cover, plus the usual swathe of random money off, including on the V-Strom. Maybe it took a month for word to get out?

Of course, now they've "cut" their warranty and breakdown cover again, and "raised" their prices back up again. Their dealers must absolutely love them. Rolling Eyes

Easy way to try and boost new registrations though, isn't it?

They obviously seem to think it's worth it.
