So its time for a new battery.. faulty R/R has all but killed mine. too many discharges.. charges.. and using a car charger Laughing

Just need a standard battery, you know, the ones you fill up then seal when its delivered.

Is there any benefit in getting a battery that turns the electrolyte / acid in to gel rather than one that has the acid free flowing?

I know the cheapest of the cheap £20 ebay chinese specials have free flowing acid, but for a few quid extra you can get say a Numax battery that turns the insides in to gel.

I know Yuassa etc do this but they are twice the price and im pretty much skint at the moment.. so I gotta go cheap..

The only noticeable benefit will be spillage. If you had no issues before, then you won't have any trouble with standard lead acids.

I persoanlly think a sealed battery is WAY better than a standard lead acid although I'm less convinced by the advantage of a gel battery over a sealed one. In terms of both cranking power and longevity.

You get what you pay for with batteries.

I just splurged on a Westco GMA (glass matt absorbtion) battery for the VFR. These are supposed to be the mutts nutts of batteries. It certainly throws the starter over like it's going into orbit.

I'm confident they're much better than default, was only £30-40 which is not much IMO

Motobatt are very good, have them on 2 of my bike and when the other is due for replacement it will be going on that too.

Motobatt is an AGM Maintenance Free battery.

They still need 'maintenance' as they cannot be left to go flat same as 'normal' lead acid batteries can't.

They are pretty much the same, just with glass matt in between the plates.
