Just been and collected a really nice 2001 XL650V Transalp. Loads of goodies (Givi panniers and TB etc.).

Just done 90 miles, chuffed to bits. Smile

You don't start a thread like this and fail to deliver a picture or two - not done!

Milage? Cost? Pics?

Well, it has been crummy weather for photos so here are the ones from the ad.

270 miles yesterday and seven hours riding (plus an hour stationary on the A34 due to the transporter on its side). Smile

Thats a beauty. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? I've been looking into getting a Transalp.

and 270 miles on your first day with it? That's excellent going!

Yep, 90 miles after picking it up and 270 the next day. Smile

I paid £1900. The bike has 45K miles and five previous MOTs to show the mileage including a brand new one as well as 6 month tax an Oxford Stormex cover, disc lock, heavy chain and lock, Haynes manual, a new chain fitted a few weeks before.

It's not fast 70MPH (plus VAT Wink ) without too much difficulty but it pulls really well so a lot of round-town can be in 2nd/3rd and give it a good twist and it will accelerate nicely.

Dry roads and it is surprisingly sure footed for such a high C of G. Smile

I do have one problem and that is short legs (27 1/2") so getting off is somewhat ungainly and I have to look for the 'right' place to stop but I am going to lower it with a new shock assembly.

I'm not interested in losing my licence just yet so 70 plus some change is perfect for me. Gah I wish I'd seen that bike for sale, I'd of snapped it up at that price.

Any idea on the MPG your getting yet?

Luggage for sale comes with free bike? Wink

That looks very nice, and I'm impressed that you took it on with that inside leg. Thumbs Up

That's probably the one thing I'm really going to miss from my CBF125... But the big bike is just so much more fun!

Just think of all the money you'll save on hotel costs as a bigger bike will get you there and back faster! Wink
