Anyone done it? I dont mean weed, i mean pipe tobacco. I hear you can get a lot of different flavours and apparently its a nicer experience than a cigar.

I'm old fashioned, but considering buying one, worthwhile?

I smoke roll ups, cheaper than straights, but wouldnt mind trying out pipe smoking.
While on the subject, would salvia burn in a pipe? I hear it needs to be super hot to work properly.

I have nothing to add except:

Well smoking weed in a pipe is one of the least pleasant ways to do it short of a chillum, which I suppose actually is still a pipe. Couldn't comment about tobacco other than to say you'd certainly look...eccentric.

In that case, meh. Is ok, I tried it, but it is more of a PITA, cleaning out the pipe and you gotta get pipe tobacco which isn't generally sold in supermarkets. Normal tobacco is horrible in pipes.

I have seen it in some but it was one brand. Proper tobacconists have lots to pick from. I imagine pipe smokers buy it in bulk.

Yes, I find it a very enjoyable experience.

You can buy tobacco from supermarkets, I prefer a tobacconist such as Hollingsworth in Birmingham though, a better variety.

Smoked pipes on & off over the years, get a pipe that takes disposable filters such as a Falcon as pipe baccy is rather oily and the filter stops you sucking sludge. Start off with the milder flavoured tobaccos, the American Black Cherry stuff is nice. For gods' sake avoid the strong stuff like Coniston Cut Plug - it'll lay you on your arse if your not used to it. Remember not to inhale too deeply, all pipe tobacco is seriously strong compared to the ciggy stuff.

Oh hai!

I am the sexy smoker above

Invest in a corncob pipe for a few quid, a cheap soft flame bic and a pouch of something nice like best brown flake or erinmore mixture to start with. You will need a pipe tool.

Www.mysmokingshop.co.uk is a good starting point.

If you take up pipes more seriously a falcon is an excellent first serious pipe. I would recommend a falcon bent with a dover bowl or similar.

Wotcha.

I smoked a pipe up until 2005 - started in the late 70s.

Erinmore Mixture is quite pleasant, though I preferred Black Cherry.

Decided to give it up - don't really know why - just stopped buying 'baccy and that was it.

Erinmore mix or flake, condore ready rubbed or flake, st bruno are the main smokeable ones.

Do not buy clan or gold block-shite.

Remember you're not supposed to inhale the smoke. Rollie smokers do then get totally stoned on the massive nicotine hit.

Sometimes an option though. Pack it full of old holburn, hoover it down then walk around in a trippy daze for the next couple of hours wondering why you ever smoked hash.

Prepare to be unable to taste anything again.

This is me, wearing cycling gear and a cowboy hat, drinking cider and smoking a pipe... on a motherfuckin boat. Could you possibly get any more badass?
