another fookin foot down, this time on u-turn, seriously stupid fault, must have been nerves as I can do them til the cows come home normally.

Clean sheet again apart from that. balls.

Think he brought a different cb as well as i don't remember the last one needing the clutch OUT to start the bike. proper threw me that did, unless I've just never noticed before....

I always pull the clutch in to start bikes in case the neutral light is lieing..

3rd times a charm

ha the manual handling bit worried me at first but it's easy, just make sure the bike is as upright as possible otherwise you'll put unwarrented strain on yourself.

The u-turn lines are plenty wide enough, i always manage it well within them....normally without wobbling over.

Just didn't think through it to be fair, i know to take a bit of a lead up to it straight ahead before turning but just didn't do it, tried to turn it too early and didn't have the momentum to carry it.

Bad luck bud. At least you managed to get one in two weeks! The wait for me is over a month now. Adds to the pressure on the day, knowing I have to wait over a month to come back for 10 minutes Confused

Try this.

Ride out of the first box and into the RIGHT-HAND box.

When you do the move back it out to your RIGHT. then move the bike forward, swing it out to your RIGHT (proper obs as if on the carriageway) and then back it into the target box... all within the rules and what I did under my instructors suggestion. Makes it a doddle but you MUST do the obs!

Remember to take a deep breath before each exercise, blot out reality & concentrate. Once your feet touch the foot pegs they're welded there until the exercise is over.

When asked to ride to 1 of the 2 parking bays park bike in the right hand side box - unless directed otherwise.
This enables you to manouver the bike " more naturally " from the left side of it - the side you would ordinarily mount bike.
By having a slight lean on bike towards yourself the turning arc is smaller, you're not over-reaching & will be in a more controlable position & will have completed it before you know it.

I failed 2 mod 1's. 1 with a foot down on the slalom so I know how you feel.

Keep the revs up and constantly look at where you want to go not what your trying to avoid. ie the white lines (don't do it!!)

^^^ That.

I've found that keeping the revs up makes the bike balance better. When I feel I am about to wobble or lose balance, I up the revs higher (still slipping clutch and back break) and I am balanced again. I don't know the exact reason but it works.

He just means do a 3 point turn, back it out, forwards past the boxes then back it in - can be easier if you have trouble turning it going backwards, but also means you're pushing it further overall!

when i was practising for the u turn i was putting my foot down alot to begin with.
i read up on it, watched u tube videos etc. i could ride slowly in a straight line round in circles. people told me it would be hard on a 125full fairing bike. so i just kept trying with not much success.

then someone i know who races bmx said that i was looking round to my right too far causing the bike to turn too sharp hence wanting to put foot down for stability .

so i tried not looking over my right shoulder soo far and it worked.

now before you all jump in and say that you need to look where you want to go i completely agree, its just that i think some times people may look too far to the right causing the problem.

Thanks, three point turn is exactly what I meant... Had a brain fart when I was trying to describe it.

Although it it a slightly further push it is at least a natural one and one we may all have to do if (when) we trusted the fuel gauge just that wee bit too much. Wink
