...because city council binmen chucked it in the back of their bin lorry, then later claimed they "thought it was a couch."

STERLING WORK THERE, MEN. SIMPLY OUTSTANDING.

Thought i'd just leave this here. I'm willing to bet they probably backed into it with the lorry, panicked, and tried to dispose of the evidence.

That's a lie on the level of a kid drawing all over the walls and claiming that "Daddy did it". The words of a man with a paniced, deer in the headlights look, as he gets questioned on something he hasn't planned to answer. A couch. For fuck's sake. He might at least have said a clothes horse.

Taking bets: they pay him for the bike, then bill him twice that for disposal of hazardous non domestic refuse.

Couldn't happen here. The lazy sods wont even collect a bin if the lid is slightly open or it's too heavy and you'll be damned for eternity if you leave a bag next to the bin if it's full.

Some (not sure how many or if infact all) councils will take bulk refuse if requested in advance, i've had couches and bits of shed and all sorts picked up

We've had binmen refuse to take even bottles that weren't actually in the bin.

They've most likely hit it and tried to cover up, how on earth could they mistake something with an engine and wheels for a COUCH?

Get writing to them, get them to write back admitting it and contact your insurance company.

We've had an old couch (Read Couch not motorcycle Laughing ) collected from the council before. Think we get maybe 3 large/bulky collections per house per year.

That's what they get for living in a country that calls a Kerb a Curb FFS....

And the driver of the 'Garbage' truck (Bin Lorry) corrected the report and said he thought the Sports Bike was a Shed. Embarassed
