At a guess I would actually say it has taken 8 months for your mum to pay for the fix, why don't you weld it up whilst in a geyser of shit?

To be honest you do not seem certain that it wasn't in that condition before you sent it. I think you'd have to be certain before you could really try anything. Maybe they cleaned it up and it just looks worse now?

That head looks to have been skimmed.
The valve seat is very very close to the edge of the combustion chamber.
If it was skimmed you will need to make up for that with gaskets.

The head is off my mates bike.
The deal is.
I rebuild it, and get to ride it aslong as it takes for me to get my full license back and get the GT back on the road.

It happened roughly 2 1/2year ago now, when the engine blew, then early on this year I propositioned him about me putting it back on the road if I fix it, because he was on about his dad wanting to get a bike.

I have the rest of the bike in the garage, waiting for the engine. But not sure where to fit this head, and risk it blowing up again in a few miles.

Mark just be aware that if one part of the engine like the head/crank goes then other parts of the engine will likely fail after you fix it.
A total rebuild is best but it might keep going for some time.

Sorry, but £20 for a perfectly fine replacement & a spare barrel/piston?

No brainer.

Chuck the fucked head on ebay with the bits you diddnt need from that pile of top end i've linked & claim was bought by mistake & diddnt fit. OR clean everything up so it's looking minty fresh & claim it's reconditioned.

So you want him to decapitate himself and sell his head and penis on ebay?

That surface does not look as though it has been skimmed but been cleaned up by using a sheet of emery cloth on a flat surface.

If the valve guide/guides have been replaced have the valve seats been recut?

Those valves do look a bit recessed into the head.If the seats were recut did they trim the 45 degree cut using 30 and 60 degree cutters to trim the 45 back to the correct width?

It would seem like the best advice has been given.Buy that engine part from ebay rather than trust that worked on part.

Really? What's his name?

I know Dave Manning (co-editor of Streetfighters mag) and Glyn and Jewel (who do all the merchandising at shows) socially, so would be able to get access to back issues and possibly even the original photoshoots depending who did them.

Be interesting to see your man's work........
