Hi

Are there any rules/exceptions to what 125cc bike you can do tests on?! I'd love to do it on my own but it quite old so don't know of its up to standards for it

If you don't feel confident your bike is up too it then maybe your better hiring a bike. Would you bike easily get up to speed for the avoidance and emergency stop tests? I personaly would have found it near on impossible on my old GS 125 Confused

Ill plan out the test site at work and give it a blast over the weekend and see how it goes. If I hire a bike it'll be a big bike Smile

it would be a hell of a lot easier on a big bike, I never had to get out of 2nd gear on my MOD1 Very Happy

Funny how they ask for proof of restriction on the Aprilia rs125, whereas they don't for other two strokes such as the mx125, or the mito

It is and its not. Its down to manufacturers declared spec at point of sale in the UK.

Genuine UK Import Mito's, like the Yamaha TZR125 were supplied as UK Learner Legal complient.... with 'optional' De-Restriction kit, nod wink if you have a full licence.

Genuine UK Import Arpillia RS's were supplied, new, as standard 'Full-Power' with optional restriction kit.

Silly question but I usually kickstart the bike up whilst on its centre stand then mess about putting gloves/helmet on whilst the engine ticks over, is there a right or wrong way to start it for mod 1?! I recall a question in the theory test about starting bike with front brakes on/check for neutral... Id have to kick it up stood over it rather than whilst on its on the stand. Can anyone clarify please?!

Straddle & kick.

Rule (until you have licence in your pocket) is:

If the engine is running your arse needs to be on the saddle.

Its a point of the Road Traffic Act, where it states that to be deemed in 'full control' of a vehicle, you need to be in the correct seating position, with hands and feet able to operate the controls.

And IF the engine is running you MUST be deemed to be in 'full control'.

Technically its arguable; I ride trials, and we often don't even HAVE a set to stick our arse on..... and the sport is ALL about fine precise control......

And on the road; I'll 'lift' my bum when I go over speed-bumps or bad pot-holes to give the suspension an easier time....

BUT...... on test... forget the real world, stick test head on, and do what they want to see, which means keeping your arse in the saddle whenever the engine is running, and avoid the argument.
