Hi all ive done my first 1000 miles on my new bike when should the air filter be cleaned and does it affect the bikes performance

i also have a similar question, when i brought my rieju the previous owner didnt even have a air box/filter fitted, what would of this done to the bike, any damage caused?

The air filter on my 600 needs to be changed every 12000 miles. If you have the bike serviced by a profesional they should change it when it needs doing.
