I have a question for (that person who is doing pharmacology... ?) and/or people who regularly have to take antibiotics.

Do they make you more stinky than usual?

Only (stop me, of course, if this is T.M.I., you guys ... NOT!!) Laughing Laughing

... I have had to take amoxicillin 500mg this week for my tonsillitis, and I swear that my guts is even more rotten than usual. It's as if a rat has crawled up me arse and died there in the Mesozoic era, and is only just now making itself known to me. I've not eaten anything that I wouldn't normally eat, so can only suspect the antibiotics.

Luckily I am on day 5 of 7, so I'm kind of hoping it will settle back down to "just" my usual level of rambunctious activity rather than this current highly-scented and possibly volatile variety Shocked

As a life long friend of antibiotics, the answer is 'no'.

Get that Mesozoic rat out of your arse, you smelly bint!

PS - Luckily we commute in the opposite directions, so at least I don't have to risk riding behind you. Sick

i've got a stomach like a goat and so far have been ok with anti-biotics. But i also eat live yoghurt or drink those activia drinks when i'm taking them.

Apparently doing this can help counteract the effects off them on your tummy. This may well be b0ll0x, but i do it cos i'm psychotically concerned enough about being less than 100% and going down with yet another vomiting bug as a result Sick

I had amoxicillin quite often before my wisdom teeth were taken out and they didn't have any bad effects. . . .but that could be the yoghurt or could be the stomach like a goat thing Very Happy

I just finished ones i've never had before (ver. . . .vef something or other) for a sinus infection and drank the yoghurt things twice a day. So far my stomach is tickety-boo. . . .but i had a weekend of industrial puking about two weeks ago and Germ-Bearer's best mate has just gone down with another one. . . Crying or Very sad

But give them a whirl, they only cost fluppence and it won't do any harm to try them Thumbs Up

Nah, I've discovered that the yoghurty drinks, delicious though they are, make me more squitty Sad I tend to avoid them, preferring to have a properly functioning undercarriage.

Although, strangely, eating ordinary yoghurt doesn't have that effect. Odd. Obviously the "good bacteria" aren't good for everybody.

Not that I've ever noticed. The worst stink I ever make is when I'm over-tired for a few days on end. Fair messes with my digestive system does that.

Aha! I knew it wasn't my imagination. Not noticed anything urinary, but definitely the back end is a lot more fragrant than usual.

Me too, I think I'm slightly lactose intolerant in some way, but I can drink a pint of milk and be fine, it's only if I drink a pint a day for a week it all goes wrong! Weird.

You'd be very welcome to borrow the dog. He is good for blaming anything smelly on...:

Still, got to be better than the alternative (thrush Puke )
I fuckin hate thrush.
Harder to get rid of, too.
That's when you have to eat the damn yoghurt Evil or Very Mad

I hate how you often have to take one drug to counteract the effects of another. Fuck that, I've learnt to try and stay off most things (long term) for exactly that reason.

I didn't know eating yoghurt got rid of thrush.

I've always been under the fond illusion that you girls cover the affected area with it.

As mental images go, it was a sort of guilty pleasure.

He certainly is adorable. I used to have one who looked remarkably similar.

Fortunately I now have Bruno, who is quite foul enough all on his own.

Although Bruno looks like he might be lovely, you are the first proud doggy owner to show me a picture of his arse rather than his noble profile! Any chance of seeing him from the other end?

Oh, and I did see someone post something about Bruno earlier in this thread. I thought he was your partner!!

You have different types of bacteria in your gut that help you digest your food, and this balance can be disturbed by some of the bacteria being killed by the antibiotics you're taking.

This can lead to tummy troubles, including you festering arse...
