anyone own one of these, I should be picking a '97 up on friday. They are supposed to have exceptional handling and a reliable engine. what do owners think about them, what kind of mpg can i expect to get and also what kind of top speed etc.?

I wouldn't describe them as having exceptional handling, but they are a good solid choice.
I doubt you will see any more than 70 mph, depending on your size.
You should easily get 80-90 mpg, maybe higher if you are careful.
Don't neglect the oil changes on these engines. I'd recommend doing a change straight away unless you can be sure it was done recently.

Congratulations anyway. I reckon they are a nice sensible 125, easy to work on with lots of spares.

Don't know about exceptional handling. Laughing
Engine is reliable, doesn't need much maintenance, just make sure oil is the right level.
MPG 90-140 depending how you ride it, and how much you weigh.
Top speed, 80mph down a steep hill, 65~ on the flat.

I had a GN 125, registered in 2005.

(scroll down passed my YBR)

They are great bikes, sounds good for a 125, does turn heads funny enough. good on petrol, has a reserve tank as no fuel light or anything i think i pushed nearly 200 miles before i used reserve, top speed im not sure about, i got mine to 60 but i know there was rooom for more.

All in all they're great bikes

Good choice really, 4 strokes are good for mpg, may expect msg anything up to 3 figures depending on how you ride, and length of trip etc

have now picked up the bike, cheers guys, exceptional bike.

I felt comfortable on it taking a 30 mile trip, whilst having little road experience after my cbt, so all in all great, comfortable bike.

definitely doesn't like cold weather though!

My first bike was a GN125.

Oh, wait, I'm still on my first bike Laughing

I love it and can't see myself upgrading when I pass the tests, although that may be due to money too.

It rides great, gets 90+mpg, and you can do all maintenance and repair work on it yourself if you're willing.

Mine is hard-pressed to get above 60mph, but it's a 95 model I think, and I bought it from a fucking crook so I know the engine might be a little iffy.

However, I can picture myself traversing the Eurasian subcontinent on it - put it that way!
