Mobile internet

Hi all, looking at mobile internet for when Im out in the car but dont fancy paying £10/15 for only 1gb. So...
Ive noticed giffgaff do unlimited internet (with no fair usage policy !!) in their goody bags from £10, so is there anything stopping me getting a phone and using that as a dongle?

Not sure mate.

When I got my phone from three network the one classed 'unlimited data' wouldn't allow tethering to PC ect.. they are seperate, worth checking before!

Pretty sure it says in their t&c's say no tethering

GiffGaff don't allow tethering, not sure how they work it out, but if it's in their T&C's they must be able to track it someway.

I think the £10 unlimited internet package is a tablet package, not a phone package.

EDIT: Nope, that's wrong - £10 unlimited texts and internet and 250 minutes. On a phone.

£15 per month with three pay as you go = All-you-can-eat data (and lots of minutes and texts) which actually means 80gb.

that is gay are there any cheap options to get mobile internet? Dont fancy paying £10/15 on top of a phone contract too (shitty fair usage of 1gb with current contract).

I had unlimited data on my contract. The T&C's said 750mb was the FUP but I did some research and it turns out they rarely enforced it. I went over many times, some months over 3gb and never had an issue.

This was from 2010 to late 2011.

You can buy a 3 dongle for about £75 which is pre loaded with 12g, it expires after 1 year.

My S3 is £31 a month.. no upfront cost, unlimited mobile internet AND tethering

Probably works out cheaper if you combine it with a phone..

If you put your sim card into a usb dongle then it comes up with some error message about tethering not being allowed. Put the sim back in the phone and use the built in terthering program and then it works very well for many gb.

To have 80gb it needs to be a £15 PAYG, when you enter the top up you're given the option of having all you eat data.

T-Mobile do £5 a month for 1gb, or £20 for 6 months with 1gb a month. Pay as you go sim, text monthweb or 6monthweb too 441(?).

When it comes to internet data usage there is no such thing as unlimited. The providers have to pay for what you use so you bet your ass they're going to charge you for it. They can argue that browsing the net and emails that a few GB is enough to last you a month of constant use and that the only way you'd exceed that amount is by doing one of the things prohibited in the contract.

Current mobile data is pants i think. I get shit coverage, shit speeds and consequently use piss all mobile data.

i'm a dog handler, and the shortest shifts i am likely to work are 15 hours, and i often do 48 hours or more without a "break".

i use my t-mobile phone as a dongle plugged into my laptop. it's faster than my home broadband.

i pay £5 a month extra for an unlimited internet booster. which says 1.5gb and subject to fair useage. and that if i go over, they wont charge me, just in time, they'll limit my speeds during "peak hours".

this is fine for me as i never really use it during peak hours as i work nights, i've had no interruption of service or any problems at all

**i watch movies, i stream live boxing and martial arts etc... judging by my home broadband bill and useage, i think i probably use in excess of 20gb per month.
