I remember reading a thread about this a while ago but can't find it. In MotoGP, why do they hang their leg off the bike before going into a bend? I don't mean knee down, I mean when they take their foot off the peg and hang it at a 90 degree angle.

Transferring their weight back to keep the rear wheel lower under heavy breaking I think.

I think they look weird when they do it, one after another, and they all seem to do it. Much prefer watching old racing vids than new ones.

Why do they only do it on some bends and some they don't bother?

Depends on the corner I suppose, some will only do it when they feel they need to.

I saw Cal Crutchlow going into a corner with both legs off the pegs last GP Laughing
